just build a machine for my dad. installed a NIC card while i was building it, for download driver and update, etc. and it's running fine. getting on the net or other of my machines w/ no problem at all!!

however, after i've moved the machine to his room, hooked up w/ a Wireless adaptor, it couldn't get any net or network access??!! the singal of the adaptor is in good 80-90% strength, and the network setting is exactly the same as the NIC card. attach the ethernet cable back again, it could get online again.

could it be having 2 networking device w/in the computer be the problem?? u know, the NIC card get log on (or store) my LAN IP., but the wireless end up w/ nothing.......something like that......??

any idea???? would i remove the NIC card might help (i'll try this 2morrow)??

Do it and see...I had wireless for a bit but it sucked compared to 100baset so I took the stuff back. Anyway, see what you can get.

is there anyone would know there's some program in Windows that's similar to "msconfig", but it's for networking...?? i've forgotten!! it's something like "ipxxxxx", i guess...

'cos i remember it has a feature that u could force windows to release the ip address w/in the computer in order for it to get a new one.

i think that's what causing the problem. my original NIC card had obtained an IP, so, my router would issue a new one to my wireless adaptor b/c it's the same computer.

any idea???
