I was wondering what kind of temperatures should be normal for two 8800ultra's in SLI with stock hsf's on them?
I was looking at the temperature monitor and both would creep to 90*C when playing a game, they rest around 80*C. This seems seriously hot and a couple times before I was monitoring these temperatures the system would lock/freeze up. What do you guys think?

I have a 120mm side case fan blowing on them, an air duct for my cpu, a 120mm exhaust fan right above the video cards/default case exhaust location. also the PSU has a 135mm fan on the bottom of it.

Also have two other questions about SLI...
1. If the 8800ultra's have two connectors for the SLI bridge does it matter which one you use?
2. In the 3D options of the nvidia control panel there is an option called SLI performance mode: Single GPU, Force split screen rendering, Force alternate frame rendering 1, Force alternate frame rendering 2. What do these options mean? What should it be set on for two 8800ultras?

I remmeber reading somewhere that overheating video cards often meant not enough power, could that be the case with two ultras? what power supply do you have.

Get RivaTuner and force the fans to run 100%, I forgot to mention this

Already did the RivaTuner. I have a Rosewill 850watt PSU

Hmm, I might been kinda biased but I have never had good results with Rosewill PSUs. If you are actually getting 850watts out of it though that shouldnt be your problem.

having the fans at 100% duty cycle and your still getting those temps? it has to be a case air-flow issue then. my GTs(s) in SLi run about 67*C max (top card) in my antec 900 (has GREAT flow) are you overclocking at all? or is this at stock speeds?

hmm, I think I might have figured it out. I am using an XFX 680iA+ edition motherboard and the chipset went above 61*C and it locked up. The video card were staying around 85-89*C and I was playing but once the chipset started to creep above 60*C and higher it then locked up, does this sound like a logical conclusion?
Stock speeds as well, on everything.

update...
Removed top 8800ultra. Currently running CPU @ 75% Memory @ 77%. I have two memtest programs up crunching away at some ram and cpu and I also have a windowed Oblivion playing (outside environment). Temp are 41*C q6600cpu, 47*C xfx680iA+chipset/mobo, 67*C single 8800ultra
Looks like I might be getting some more case fans so I can put my second 8800ultra back in :)

that board should have come with an active northbridge cooler? i have a p5n32-e 650i based and both the north and south bridges get very very warm unless you have active cooling on them. i can run the north bridge safe @ 1.75v and it stays just warm to the touch.
it's good to hear you have the cooling semi fig out - when you feel like you have a good handle on stuff and want to try your hand - SLi ultra's would be nice to have on the team :)

yeah I do have that stock fan attached to the northbridge heatsink. The second 8800ultra was placed right above it though. Since it is attached to the bottom of the heatsink it just pulled heat from where the gpu was. I'll be getting some 120mm, 80cfm, fans so it should move that heat right out.
