Is there an advantage/disadvantage to using linux to crunch?

I think there was a thread on this before. Didnt read it in depth, but what I got is if you use windows+optimized clients you should get better results then linux+optimized clients, something about the windows optimized clients being more developed.

I haven't seen a definitive answer to that question, either. There are optimizers, both 32- and 64-bit, for Linux but whether they're better than Windows apps ...???
