I am tring to decide wich sound card to get. I am a little leary of the Audigy because I have a KT266A chipset, and I heard the Sonic Fury had major driver problems when it was released, but I am not sure if those have been fixed yet. Please advise me. Thanks.

The game theater would be another option too in adition to the ones in the title.

Please help me because I have an unopened Audigy on my desk now and only have 2 days left before I can return it.

I can't really describe the sound quality of the Audigy since I don't own one. However, several users in the forum seem to think it's quite a nice card. Unfortunately, there is a definitely a possibility of encountering problems since you're using a KT266A chipset. Apparently, the new chipset didn't alleviate the problems with Creative and Via chipsets.

I do however have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz (Sonic Fury for those in the UK I believe) and am very happy with the sound quality. No driver problems to speak of and I've had the card for about 7 months. Another plus is that you would save about $30-40 if you returned the Audigy and purchased a Sonic Fury instead. Of course you can always take a small risk and try the Audigy anyway. There's a pretty good chance you wouldn't experience any problems.

Ok, thanks. I think I will get the Fury based off how it is performing for you. http://www.3dsoundsurge.com/ is where I saw a review trashing the Sonic Fury's drivers, just in case you were woundering.

As a audigy owner i have to say its probably, IMO the best sndcard out there rite now. Tho u really need some nice speakers to take full advantage of all the whistles and bells on this baby... :D

Well if you can add anything to our problems in the 4.1 speaker thread then fire away.

Hi Virus

I`ve had all sorts of probs when I bought my Audigy & to cut a very very long story short, I exchanged it for the VideoLogic Sonicfury & got £10-00 back. Best thing I did, it went in like a duck to water. Sounds GREAT as well!!

The Audigy just did`nt want to behave on my system.

I have the Asus A7V266-E I love the board & if I had my choice again I still would`nt change it.

Hope this helps you.

Sorry to drag up your old post.
How did you get on with your Audigy? Did you resolve the problem or exchange your card?
