Sounds like more and more ppl are getting quads up and running so how bout we make a thread for em.

To start, i've got my q6600 at 3.1 ghz @ 1.3v and i'm working on make sure it's stable. I've run 4 exe's of orthos, 4 exe's of prim95 etc and can't get this thing to got at 100% cpu. it will only use 2 of the 4 cores no matter what i do. any ideas on how to max this thing out?

You could try this multithreaded version of Prime95 (v25.3) (ftp://mersenne.org/gimps/p95v253.zip). It's threaded, all you have to do is specify in the options how many threads you want it to run. In this case, 4.

Easiest way IMO. Unless you really, really prefer doing ghetto rigged workarounds on the normal, non-threaded versions of those programs.

Is that 3.1 on air?

3.1 on air sounds nice...what kinda temp u getting?

just what i was looking for...finally something that put it to 100% load. I took it back down to 3.0 cause it was getting a little finicky. (it is a b3 btw) seems to be doing just fine at 3.0 w/ temps between 34 c @ idle and 54 load. This thermalright ultra-120 extreme seems to be doing it's job.

3ghz on air, im hoping i can hit 3.6 on water with G0. Time will tell.

3.6 seems like it will be pushing it, they seem to get real real finicky pas 3.2 for people.

3.2 is a 33.33% increase that you didn't buy :D

I would settle for anything 3+ but I really wanna try and hit 3.6.

I'll be shooting for 3.2ghz as a stable clock to match my e6600. If I can't meet that or surpass that, you will probably see my quad in the classifieds. :p

Quad Q6700 GO @ 3800 on water. vCore 1.56
Idle 33c
Load core 0 = 65, core 1 = 65, core 2 = 60, core 3 = 60
these readings are at the 30 minute mark prime 95x4

Can someone please tell me how to gget Orthos to work all four cores - four primes is the same thing, I know but orthos is prettier :).

Run 2 copies of orthos set each one to use two different cores.

Go into task manager
Then processes tab
Right click othos
Set affinity
Select cores 0&1 for 1 orthos
Select cores 2&3 for the orthos

Also please note....DO NOT SET ORTHOS TO BLEND, each with try to use all the ram and it takes forever to stop them. Be sure to use small FFT's

mine is Q6600 @ 3600Mhz on water, v core around 1.52v
idle 51 t0 58, load 57 to 65

i still think it can go furtther

Those are some nice temps for 1.52v, I would be worried putting that much voltage into any cpu though. I guess it's why I only get 3.0ghz outa my e6400 oh well. Push that sucker! :D

I am putting 1.57 through my Q6700. I don't think voltage is an issue so long as temps stay under control.
I am stable at 3800 so far but I still have a little headroom if I need it.

I run my E600 at 1.4V and never really considered that alot. I figure it may take some time off it's lifepan, but by then I will have another cpu anyhow. Hell, I tortured my D805 practically trying to kill it. These cpu's can take more than people think IMHO. Oh, at 1.4 its at 35C 48C load give or take.

You may not be able to get orthos going on all 4 with Vista. I'm running Vista64, and every time I try to set the processor affinity, the sessions flip out...some strange affinity error. Prime seems to work fine.

Got 3.15GHz here btw. The G0 stepping rocks :attn:

I am getting 3.7ghz @ 1.475V. I am not sure I want to push it farther with my current PSU. You all got some nice overclocks too :) .
