ATA 133 or UDMA 100?

Whats the difference here? Is there a big price difference?

I've not noticed any price difference in anything other than the controllers they each take. The ATA133 controllers ARE more than the ATA100 ones.

As far as performance goes...don't really know. I would assume not much since ATA100 still doesn't even meet ATA66 specs. May be a marked increase but I would say it's best to get one considering there isn't a price difference in the drives themselves. Far as I know, Maxtor is the only one producing them at the moment.

(and ATA 133 is faster than ATA 66 right?)

ATA100 = 100MBps maximum burst throughput

ATA133 = 133MBps maximum burst throughput

ATA and UDMA are (more or less) interchangeable terms.

you could tell in a benchmark between the two but you wouldnt notice when your just fooling around on the computer:D

there is no thing like udm 100 its udm 5 and yes its quicker then udma 4 but how they are diferd i dont know i know ata 66 is udma 4 ata 100 udm5 and i think ata 133 udma 6

Obviously ATA 133 is quicker as long as your HDD will support it.

Its like 100mhz and 133mhz, 133 is defintely going to be faster.

I wouldnt even say quicker even......maybe more bandwidth but unless you increase the speed of the hard drive it wont be really any quicker
