Thanks to 13oots2 and Cy I just discovered the Command Line Version. I feel really stupid because I have processed almost 1600 WU's using the GUI with a blank screen saver. Its very frustrating to think how many more WU's this could have been if I simply took the time to look.

I have some questions I would appreciate help with.

I noticed that when the CLC runs my machine gets noticably sluggish. A nice feature of the GUI version was that it did not at all intrude into my work when the blank screen saver was not active. Is there any way to similarly automatically stop and keep the CLC completely at bay unless I am not using my computer? I saw some parameters in SetiSpy and SetiDriver that might accomplish this but I would rather make known changes than experiment and unnecessarily slow the WU times.

I have a very reliable DSL connection. It happens but is rare that I am unable to connect with Seti to get a new WU. When it does happen it is almost invariably because the SETI server is down. This being the case, is SETIDriver needed?

Again, thanks to 13oots2 and Cy for opening my eyes.

I use driver with my cable modem it has happened in the past that the servers were down for a week. I suggest using it I cach 5 days worth of WU's. On the speed thing set the priority in setidriver to low, then it is the bottom of the cpu cycles list. If you set it to high the only time seti gets priority is when ypou want to do something. Setting on low or high really makes no difference in the processing. Mine is set to low. Hope this helps.

I think Basher has covered the priority question using Driver (I don't use it myself). I would highly recommend using your caching progam though. I use SETIQueue as my cache. Like you say, sometimes the Berkeley folks are the ones who are down. No reason to allow that to stop your crunching ability. :)

I set the priority to low as suggested. First impression is that Seti is now much better behaved and does not compete with foreground tasks at all.

Thanks Basher

i've been caching for 'bout 2-3days worth of WU just in case either SETI server is down (which happen quite often sometime), or my cable service is down (which 'bout a day/month).

as Basher said, set the SETIDriver prority to low should bother ur everyday work. my main machine been running SETI 24/7, even when i'm using Photoshop + Dreamweaver at the same time. not much difference. well, might be a second or two when using Photoshop fliter.
