Well something wrong with my CPU thermometer on my Socket 7 board.

I'm pretty sure I'm right when I say its the little blue thing in the middle of the socket.

Well anyways. It likes to tell me that the chip is at 55 degrees Celcius. lol.

Can I replace the sensor, or is there something wrong with the board?

If i can replace the sensor, where can I get one?

Some asus boards are known to give a high reading, 55c might be right. Post what motherboard, cpu and heatsink.
You can always use a compu-nurse or something instead of the built in thermistor.

There are a few different add on sensors here:

those sensors listed there like the CompuGauge, Where are you supposed to put that to get a CPU temp reading.

That chip is a k62 300, not overclocked
not sure of the board, i ahve the book an everything but i don;t know a company name.
And its being watercooled. Because I am going to overclock it

Most people put them next to the cpu core like its shown in the picture on this page.

Those K6-2s can run pretty hot. I wouldn't be surprised if 55C is accurate, especially without a premium hs/fan on it. The ones that come in prebuilt computers like an Acer or compaq or something aren't usually on the generous side for that.

A new cheap s370 hsf will probably do better. Just the budget model.

No no, its not accurate, I have a water cooled rig with a danger den water block. I doubt its running not overclocked at 55 Degrees Celsius.

Ah sorry, yes, I read "its being watercooled" to mean you were going to do it. LOL

Ummm by the way, it's unfortunate that that particular CPU might not be a particularly good overclocker, your chances are kinda low on getting a good one, many 300's will only go to 333 or 350, with good air cooling and sticking peltiers and stuff on them that takes them below ambient doesn't make much difference. I hope you're lucky though.
