$20 :( ....BFD. At the rate the lenses have dropped in price and the players in Toshiba's (maker of the 360 drive) lineup the price needs to be dropped to $99 to make ANY noise. You still get 5 free movies at least...

worthless. If the 8/1/07 360 price drop is true, I'll miss my rebate by 15 days. Hooray, capitalism!

Target also just announced they this X-mas they will not carry any HD-DVD drives besides the Xbox360 add-on unit. It is a big day for the unit.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.
I don't honestly know why they even bothered at this point. Sure you get 5 free HDDVD movies, but only from a specific selection and I believe you have to get them via mail order (I can't remember if the BDDVD offer was mail order or not).
The whole Target thing is absurd, too. Why miss out on potential sales? Did Sony and the other members of the BDDVD group throw money at them or something?

Sony's 5 BD offer is from a small selection and is also only redeemable through mail.

Yeah, Target is officially backing BluRay, was announced a couple of days ago to counterpoint WalMart officially backing HD-DVD, announced a few months ago. No I'm not posting a link, google it yourselves. Those that know me, know I don't post disinformation.

$150 now. The format is set for the dustbin. "I weep for HD-DVD as I would a brother". Sony wins, : puke:

First people complain that $20 isn't enough. Now the drop to $150 automatically spells doom for the format  Stop being so melodramatic - both formats will likely be here for quite some time.

deception, you can shout this as loud as you possibly can. From the rooftops, with a bullhorn the size of a Buick, but nobody will ever listen to you, ever.
I've been saying exactly what you said since the formats were first introduced.
Personally, I think it's coming down in price due to the fact that MS is seriously considering moving over to HD-DVD for gaming, what w/ PGR4 getting trimmed due to being too big for the DVD format.
$150 for a reasonable HD-DVD player isn't all that bad, either. I'd jump on it at this price.
I don't know ONI. MS has said way to many times that the HD DVD drives will not be used for games. It'd be a real 360 if they renege on it now.

They can recall all 12 million or how ever many they've sold so far and replace the drives with HD-DVD drives for free:D
They should be used to shipping systems back and forth by now:D

Microsoft has stated that the interface in between the 360HD-DVD add on and the 360 itself is not fast enough to be used for gaming. Not to mention that any game put on the HD-DVD format would be doomed to terrible sales pretty much points to a HD-DVDless gaming world. I don't think HD-DVD itself is going to die, I mean if UMD can live this long then HD-DVD certainly has some life left in it. However, I do believe that the days of it having large exclusive studios are close to being over, and it will be on the back burner for the next few years until it fades away.

umd does not have a rich life and all because sony didn't put a video out on the damn psp.
im not buying any players until there is a bit of security on the lifespan of the format

The PGR4 rumour was just that.
