I own one of those and I think theyre ok. But depends if you want to do any real overclocking. I made a post with a couple diffrent heatsinks in it. Lookie here (Watch the link not work)

If it doesnt link just cut and paste it into your browser.

If I am thinking of the right one, it is super heavy...So heavy, it scared me.

Do you think the Dragon Orb 3 can handle a XP 2000+ or 2200+ cpu???

I got one.
The thing about the DO3 is that it looks extremely badass. I have a window on my nice case so i kinda like an orb in there for asthetics (sp?). It cools my XP pretty well (1.4 @ 1.6, 38 idle, 43 load), so I have no complaints about it.
It's not the best heatsink, but its very respectable, and it looks cool. The only things wrong with it is that for the money it costs, you could get a better hsf, and also the clip is a F*@#&* nightmare.
I say that if looks are important then you should get it, otherwise, you could get an SK6 for the same money and get better results.

Yea it is pretty heavy, go to sleep at night having reoccuring dreams of my sockect cracking die to the HSF Weight. I have heard of it happening before. But usually when moving the unit.

So what performs better than the DO3, I don't care about looks

SK6
one of the best. Or an Alpha...
PS- are you really 'ghey'?

I'm not a homo, end of discussion.
P.S. who made SK6?

Man you don't even know what heavy is try all copper or the Alpha 0845 now those things are heavy.
Orbs are bad. the dragon is okay but in the past they made crappy products so I would not buy one because they made such a horrible product like the original orb.

Yeah, those are heavy. But the Dorb 3 is so tall, I can just imagine the leverage it will have when it tries to rip the socket off of the motherboard.
I looked it up: The D-Orb 3 692 grams. The PAL 0845 520 grams!!! Swiftech is 560 grams.
This Dorb is a monster.

The DOrb 3 performs well...very well even, but comparing products of similar price, it's not the best. Comparing products of similar noise level, it's not the best. I'd say go for an Alpha 8045, a Glaciator I (GREAT deal at 20 bucks) or II, an SK6, a Swiftech (The MCXC370 looks to be my next HSF purchase...), or Dynatron before considering the Dragon Orb. MHO...

well newegg has em for $27 + sh. Or checkout pricewatch for the latest prices. :D
the GI and GII are both great but again they are heavy too around 600 grams with the fan built in.

I've decided upon this: Swiftech MCXC270 with a Delta 60X60X25 mm fan. Think it'll perform better than GI, GII?

The thing I would recommend is to; at the very least; look at the Socket A HSF review on the front page. Gives you links to the manufacturers and lets you listen to how loud all of them are before you are kept awake at night by a Delta.

NOise is not a problem for me, I don't leave my comp on overnight. And I checked out the Asus A7V266E m/b, it doesn't have the 4 hole... but... the MCXC370 uses clips. <---I'm not 100% sure, can someone check for me please???
P.S. Thank you for all those who replyed
I wish I had a digicam so I could show y'all some pics....
I drilled a hole through the center of my Dragon Orb 3's copper base. The hsf was already cooling like a champ, but I took a hint from wildandyc and made it even better. Andy had done something similar to an older orb. So anyway, the water-assisted Dorb3 can keep a non-overclocked Duron 750 at 1 degree above ambient with the water pumping and the 7K fan running! (according to mobo BIOS) With my Duron oc-ed to 1064 it never gets above 30C under full Folding load! I can run it with just water and it stays at max 40C or just air and it's about 35C. I use an anti-freeze and water mix and I haven't even set up a radiator yet (I just use a big resovoir right now). My homemade radiator will be a coil of 1/2 inch copper tubing set outside in the winter cold. When it warms up I will use fans blowing on it. I need a nice Christmas gift of an XP so I can really put my watercooling setup to use.

Iamghey, I jsut checked and yes the Swiftech MCXC370 uses a clip and not the mobo mounts. Hope that helped. :)

Oh, thank you soooooooo much!
Thats a good selection although very pricey..
P.S: When it comes to Socket, orbs just don't go with there are defintely way better choices for Socket's without orb :) That are poorly made ie products like the Golden Orb, Blue Orb's Surface...
I think this may be a case of "Don't knock it 'til you try it." Maybe the older orbs were crappy but I never used one and the Dorb3 is well-made, looks awesome (not that looks matter) and cools better than ~90% of hsf's out there. It is heavy, yes. That is due to the huge chuck of copper that makes up the base. The clip design is the best I have used. Maybe I will get my dorb cross-drilled so that there will be more water running through it.
Just like a few guys have mentioned here the DOrb3+ is ok & can be used for O/C when you have good case airflow, as with any heatsink. Yes it is heavey but since the clip uses all the socket lugs to secure the HSF it should keep it in place. Just make sure to add some support to it when transporting you baby to a lan party. Even though it's tall most of the weight is in the base so the leverage issue is not a concern. I use it & I think I got a pretty OK O/C:D
