View Full Version : Adding to an existing partition
My current drive is 250MB, but I have only 150MB on the C:\ partition. When I go into drive management I have the rest being unused. Not sure how I did this, but I guess I did not do something right when I installed windows. How can I make the other half part of my existing C:\?
Probably have to reformat.
If there's another way , I don't know it.

You can try partition magic, otherwise reformat would be the acceptable answer.

http://gparted.sourceforge.net/
Download the GParted Live CD. It's a bootable version of Linux that will resize partitions. It works with NTFS partitions too. I've used it at work this week to resize a 60GB partition down to 30GB, then make it a dual-boot config. Works great and its free.

Instead of merging the current active primary volume C: w/ the unused space on the drive, why not just create a logical partition from the unused space using the Disk Management snap-in?
