Hot Swap hard drives ???

how can someone make a server with hotswap hard drives ??? What permits this person to make a hard drive or a controller or whatever become hot swappable ? can I do it with my simple computer or do I need something else ?

The controller and the drive both must support hot swapping before it's safe to do so. Most SCSI drives and controllers support this by default. Most all server racks come with swappable drive bays for this reason (I've seen very few that didn't).

I've successfully hot swapped IDE drives on regular controllers a couple of times but I don't recommend doing it all. You can very easily ruin components doing so.
