Hey everybody. I've been seeing a lot of people suffering from this problem. I could only run my Athlon xp at a 100 FSB setting heres what I did to fix it: I tried making sure I had the latest agp drivers, that didn't work, so I made sure I had the latest bios for my ECS K7S5A and that didn't work either, so then I tried putting a fan on my mobo chipset and still nothing. Next i formatted and took win XP off, and tried win98. still no luck and then I fixed it. I shutdown, took my fan off of my cpu, took my cpu out and just re-sat it and put plenty of thermal paste on and I put it on nice and even ( I wouldn't suggest putting on a whole lot of thermal grease, just make sure it is on evenly and you don't move it all to one side when you put the fam back on), then i hooked my fan back on, booted up, set my FSB to 133 and VIOLA!! it worked.

I hope this works for the rest of you folks! good luck!!!!!!

Great job man. Way to go.

Just out of curiousity, do you know what your temps were before and after reapplying the thermal paste?

I'll get back to you on that one. I was getting temps between 55-60 Celcius and now its about 45 Celcius, but I think that has more to do with the fact that the heat in our apartment is broken, so I'll let you know when they heat is working again.
