Hello all you networking gurus. I have a question for you. Here is the current gear in use.

Router - WRT54GX2 Linksys
PC card - WMP54GX Linksys
Laptop card - WPC54GX Linksys

Also on the network are two other pc's but they are wired to the router, we are running a business DSL connection from verison. Now when i set the mouse over the wireless icon in the task bar the speed connection read 108Mbps. Is there any way to increase this speed? We are using a software that keeps track of our cases at the Dental Lab i work at and the connection of the wireless pc to the server that has the software installed on it is slow. The lady at the software compant say we need to have a min of 110Mbps, So how do i increase it? New router or tweak some settings a tad. Any info would be great.

Thats as fast as you are going to get. In actuallity, you are even running slower due to Network overhead. The only way to get higher speeds would be to go completely wired with gigabit switches.

You could get Draft-N/Pre-N I dont know what speed it runs at though.

N wireless would get a bit higher speeds, but you will not get anywhere near what they claim for speeds. For the cost of N equipment, you would be better off running wires. With G wireless, you will get an actual throughput of around 20-40Mb/s. With N wireless, you will get an actual throughput of around 60-90Mb/s. If you have encryption(which I hope you do), it will get worse depending on what type you are running. All in all, going wired would be the best route IMO.

well i will check the speed of the wired pcs to see what they are at. Thanks guys.

ya my "54mbit wireless G" at home only does bout 40% of that or right round 22MB/s constant... so your maybe looking at 40mbps for 108mbps wireless g... only way ur gonna get 110mbps constant is wired gigabit.

you may be connected at 54mbps... but i highly doubt you are ever able to even get 50% bandwidth saturation of that 54mbps.
