So my puppy just ate the "o" key of my new laptop in sig.

Where can I buy another key? Will asus send me one?

You can always just keep the puppy confinded till it comes out the other end and hope he just swallowed it and his teeth didnt hit it .

If the worst happens and they dont send you one you could get a small cheap usb keyboard, but that would be kinda inconvenient to carry around.

What color are your laptop keys? Ive got a couple of full sets of old laptop keys lying about. If worse comes to worse, I could just send you one and you could glue it on.

Most laptop keyboards come out completely, because of the odd mechanism that separate laptop keyboards from desktop keyboards it will not be easy to simply snap the key back in. I would call asus and have them send you an entire new keyboard assuming you're still under warranty because it's brand new.

Replacing the keyboard is not as intimidating as it sounds, and by no means do you have to open up the system. There is usually a lever at the top of your keyboard that you can pop open by either screws or a lever force, unscrew the keyboard from its mounts, disconnect the cable then reattach the new one. I did it with my gateway after the y key became mushy and unresponsive.

I tried popping it out, cleaning out the mechanism, however it wasn't a problem that I could fix by cleaning, the rubber had simply gone limp and wouldn't give a solid reaction.

ok..so apparently she didn't swallow it, and my dad found it hours later. She has taken them off before, she can do it in the blink of an eye.

and they do just push right back on.

sorry for the thread, thanks for the info ;)
