Jsut got a acer aspire with the new Socket S1 AMD Turion, the cpu in it is a screamer its just a single core. It has the MK38 2200mhz cpu. ALso I may add at 399 for this laptop its very nice. Its ready for upgrades, I already swapped out the memory for a 2 gig dual channel kit, now just for the cpu and im set. This laptop is a screamer compared to my Old thinkpad r50.
Question is , I wanna uprade this to Turion X2 but I cant find these for sale anywhere!! Well I can just nothing special just a X2 1800 Mhz TL-56 for 174.
WHere are all the cpu's for sale at for this socket???? Its amd's flagship socket with DDR2 support and everything??
Is the upgrade to the TL-56 worth the upgrade over my screamer single core at 2200 mhz?? I would be losing 400Mhz but gaining another core??
THanks guys!

Whether it's worth it depends on if what you're doing supports dualcore. Personally I'd stick with what I have.

Im a multitasker to the max, I usually have several things going on at once. ALso ive always wanted to play with dual-core and use my laptop waaaaay more then my desktop.
Why wouldnt it be worth it? Nothing wrong with the Turion X2's is there?
Well for one you'd be able to RMClock (http://cpu.rightmark.org/products/rmclock.shtml) your single core to use way less electricity than a dual core.
And it's a downgrade for single-threaded apps, if you care. I would definitely feel a 400-600mhz difference in cpu speed. If you just do basic stuff and just want to do them at the same time, I guess it doesn't matter.
Plus it's $200-250. It's not like the desktop chips that cost $75, making it no question on desktops.
Otherwise there's nothing wrong with it.

does rmclock even work an ati 1100 express chipset?? I dont think that it does.
RMClock should work on any AMD processor, it took me a while to figure it out though.

We're getting a bit http://mud.mm-a8.yimg.com/image/4274633203, but T7600 is Core 2 Duo, not Core Duo.
