ok, i unplugged my comp, used the power cord to power a PSU
which i placed on top of my comp.
I used that PSU to run various DC fans at various voltages, to find out what was too loud for me.
Left it powering the fan for like 2 hours.
Turned off the PSU, unplugged it and plugged the power cord back into my comp.
Hit the power button, and something strange happened.
Nothing came on the monitor, no signal at all.
Lights flashed on the floppy, and CDROM, but no beep from the comp speaker.
The fans turned on as well, but I heard this weird sound, like some moving part was struggling to move and was encountering friction. It made that sound for about 5 seconds then went away.
I figured there are 4 things possibly broken:
AGP card
Mobo
CPU
PSU
If theres anything in this list I missed, please let me know.
So I test everything, and its the mobo thats fried for some reason.
It can't be fried from oc'in, in fact it was underclocked at the time to 933mhz cause I've been stuck with this crap 300W PSU that wouldn't even run my 1g athlon stable.
My only guess is that running that other PSU on top of my comp some how caused some mutual inductance to happen and built up some potential somewhere on the board and fried it when i turned it on.
I dunno, sorry bout the long read, anyone got any ideas,
explanaitions?
