alright, my friend got one of these but he never ended up using it, so i thought id try it out to see what it was like....so i lapped it really well with some glass to make sure it was flat......i installed it, checked temps, and it was upwards of 45 idle with my 1.33 at stock speed. so i take it off, reapply ASII, and put it back on...same results (by the way this had the Delta Black label fan on it...SOO LOUD)....then i put my thermoengine back on, and temps were down around 30C....i use built in motherboard monitoring, but ive checked the temps with a real thermometer and they are exactly right so thats not what is happening. i do not recommend anyone buying this hsf because it suxors. if oyu have any questions, ill be on for a while

you do realize the thermoengine artificially cools the socket thermistor right? how are you checking temps with a thermometer?
I am running 100F normally - 35C/95F right now ... @ 1.2Gig with a CAK38 and black label Delta.
your temps don't sound right at all!!! and yes I am lapped as well...

ok, to check to make sure they are right, i stuck a regular thermistor right next to the core and put a piece of duct tape right where the thing was, just because i knew this would happen. and when i took off the CAK 38 both times, there was a full die imprint on the heatsink so i know it was making good contact
what is your ambient case temps???
I run 27C in my case

thermo engine is still a great heatsink and i wouldn't be surprised if it beats most of the 1st generation of copper haetsinks

:) you could make the dry ice a liquid CO2, and pump it like a water cooling system. The trick is to keep it cool.

Thats why you have a whole bunch of 120mm fans blowing directly onto the boards, blowing away water, and insulation also.

case temps right now are 22 C, if i take it off it gets up to about 25-28c because i have a 92mm fan blowing over the pci/agp slots
edit: and i was using the delta black label....good fan

:takes XP1400 willed to JigPu gladly: :D
Let's get back to the topic at hand guys...
Have you tried checking if your thermometer is accurate? Everything sounds good to me, so my only slight suspicion is with the thermometer...

i know the temp is right, i checked it with one of those tempdoctor things....or whatever they are called, the little white box with the temp probe, you know what i mean, i put that next to the core, and pu t a piece of tape on the bottom of the thermoengine so the fan would not cool the probe, and the probe showed the exact same temp as the motherboard temp probe did, so i know everything is correct

:( I think your thermistors on your cpu and/or board are messed up. Some of the times that you have told me your cpu/case temps, they were rediculously low. I know for a fact tthat at times my temps have been off, as once it was giving me CPU temps of 30C!!! I would check the temp through the bios or by using an external temperature probe.
BTW, did you ever get your computer fixed?

i ordered the new parts tonight
well the reason everything is so cold is because its winter here, and my mom refuses to turn the heater about 66 degrees F. so its pretty chilly all around....thats why its so cold....and if you read above, i know the motherboard temp reading is correct because i borrowed my friends temp probe for a minute and the two temps were exactly the same
