well the machine is too loud again! i have sk6's on my cpu's. with the sunon 27cfm fans my cpu's are at 41c. idle and 47c. max load.(2xmp1800's). with the delta 38cfm and a 7.5 ohm resistor on the red lead(5600 rpm) the temps are 38c. idle and 44c. max load. with the delta 38cfm at full blast it is 35c. idle and 41c. max load.
heres the problem: the delta with the 7.5 ohm resistor is still too loud. a 10 ohm resistor makes no difference in the noise level. the fan is not as loud decibel wise, but the "whine" is still present.
so, in an earlier post mekboy mentioned that he runs delta 50 cfm(tall) fans on the 7v. rail. he says it is quiet. well i never had him clarify is it as quiet as a 27cfm sunnon? or does it still whine a little? i wont run on the 7v. rail, but i will use an appropriate resistor.
the sk6's work good, but they require a lot of air.
i just wanted to ask this before i spent $35 on more fans to sit in my "junk drawer".
by the way, the machine is not overclocked and runs fine. i just like it as cool as possible. but not at the expense of my ears. this machine is for audio recording. idealy it should be below 40db. from a foot in front of the case.
thank you,
sendatooli.
