Find a folder creator in active directory

Hey all.

Friend of mine is trying to find the creator of a folder. This folder has some non-it related stuff in it and she needs to know who put it there . Anyone know a way to do this?

Right-click folder, go to the Security tab, click on Advanced, and check the Owner tab. If it says the owner is Administrator (or renamed default administrator account), you can't tell without detailed file/folder auditing set (and having the logs saved somewhere).

You can set file/folder auditing at this point and monitor it for access. This may give you a clue who it belongs to.

Ah ok. Yeah it said Administrators on it so I was wondering if I had done it wrong. Ok thanks for the help! I appreciate it!
