Hi, all. I recently bought an 8600gts and I've been thinking of upgrading to the 88series. My 8600 has been running fine on my board, but I'm a little concerned about the 8800 and my PSU.

This is my PSU btw. (http://www.antec.com/specs/TPII550_spe.html)

Unless I'm reading that wrong, I have two 12v rails, each rated at 19amps. Does this mean I can run one of them (whichever is not the main power to the mobo) to the videocard and be okay? If so, how do I know which is which (so I don't put both the CPU and GPU on a single 19amper)?

SPECS:
DFI DAGF NF4
Opteron 165 @ 2600MHz
2GB PC3200 ram (at 2-2-4)
8800GTS 320mb

Thanks for your time. :)

It should say on your manual. That PSU should suffice and you do not need to upgrade.

My manual only tells me how to test it - that I can use the same 4-pin to test both 12v rails. Hope the PSU sorts out that the GPU needs its own.

Should handle that card just fine.

It should 'jive' according to the jivetrky :)

If their Fuhjyyu caps are in good shape you have plenty of power.

The question is how long will they stay in good shape when exposed to the extra load/heat of the 8800. I would get a new PSU as the caps in the TP2 will fail, its just a matter of time.

Agree. It's a time bomb. :(
