I have searched the forums and can't find anything on this.

When I run cpuz it says I'm running 2666mhz on this 3ghz proc. I have the speedstepping turned off.

what else could it be......the mult. is 8x

Well there is your problem. ;)

8*333=2666mhz.

9*333=2997mhz.

you need to use the 9x multi, or run 8*375.

shouldn't it do that by itself??? i just finished building and turn it on......haven't messed with any clocking features yet.

Do you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard?

The speeds the cpu runs is totally up to the mobo, and I have no experience with the one you have. But I would think the latest BIOS would fix it.

My 6850 defaulted to the 8x multi also. Don't know why.
Just change it.

I've got the same processor installed this weekend.

As the others have said, it should be on a default x9 multiplier. No idea why your board is set at x8.
