i have an AMD Tbird 1GHz. The website says you can use a heatsink with a maximum length and width of 60x60. The heatsink I am looking at has dimensions of 64x65. Will those few millimeters make any difference?

Just measure to be sure. Many times there is spare room.

Should be just fine. I got the raid version, but the socket layout seems to be the same.

I'm attaching AMD's keepout zone as per their PDF. The zone that makers aren't supposed to put components around the socket.
Abit only broke this rule by 1mm on either side. (well outside the area you need.) It prints full scale.

with my k7v dragon, i had to cut a corner of my swiftech mc462-a heatsink off , to fit on the mobo, thanks to a huge capacitor too close to the zif socket.
