OK so i have no idea what to get ATM.

i will be switching to a 4400+ and will be trying to get it past 3.0ghz, and getting 2 gigs of ram, on a P35 S3L ( so sli, or cross fire is out of the quesiton).

Now i dont know what graphics card to get, please reccomend me one, i am not picky about nvidia or ati, dx 9 or dx10.

Speed is not realy a factor. The factors to be considered are.

Resell price by the time the 9xxx or x3xxx cards come out, the amount of fps i will get in counter-strike source, whether or not crysis will look good, and will i be able to play most of the interesting fps games that will release before 9xxx or x3xxx cards come out, like Call of Duty 4. Also will it be bottle necked tremendously by the CPU?

Resell price is the most important factor in this because i have never had a big budget for my computer and always sell my old parts to ge the new ones.

price range is upto $500 AUS dollars, which is everything upto the 8800gts/x2900xt price range.

So thanks in advance.

CS:S and Crysis is like comparing apples to a buick.

I doubt that there is a CPU/GPU match out that maxes each. One is always going to be a bottleneck for the other on FPS.

Am i misunderstanding this or are you trying to run a amd proc on a intel board. :S Anything higher then a 6600gt will run the source engine maxed out with decent frames. You could get a 1950xt to hold you out ill the second generation of dx10. Mine can run all the newer games with max settings at good frames. It should be able to handle crysis and such in dx9 with decent settings to.

Ditch the S3L for its better brother, the DS3L. The DS3L comes with all hard caps. I didn't know about it and bought the S3L. :bang head:

solid state capacitors -that's the only advantage the DS3L has over the S3L. excerpt from gigabyte product page concerning the use of "all-solid capacitors"
...high-quality components, users can take advantage of better electronic conductivity and excellent heat resistance
