I'm going off to college next week, and just found out that students can only download "x" gb in a 24 hour period before being temporarily shut off (yes, I know the actual number).

I'm looking for a lightweight app that can show me the download and upload stats, or combined, for the last 24 hours. Something like this http://www.analogx.com/contents/graphics/nsl.gif but smaller and can display the last 24 hours would be great.

After some googling I can't find one that really sticks out, hopefully OCF can recommend a good one!

thanks

DUMeter, not free though, but very small footprint on memory usage.
It can stores daily, weekly and monthly traffic on upload & download.

Actually if you have a time to learn how to use, the built-in Windows Perfomance Monitor is quite powerfull too.

I'm trying to find something something that can show me bandwidth over "last 24 hours" specifically. If I'm looking at DUmeter correctly, it shows daily reports, but that doesn't completely help my situation. For example, if I downloaded 4gb from 8pm-12 and another 2gb from 12am-2am that exceeds 6gb in a 24 hour period, but not 6 for a calendar day.

Again, I might be wrong about DUmeter though

You need a "rolling" bandwidth monitor? I.E. like a stinking sattelite isp's FAP...

Haha doing that much downloading huh? I'd just be careful with the erm... less ethical material?

porn?

edit : you might want to look into MRTG you may be able to spit out traffic reports the way you want them. (it does do daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly averages by deafult)

the good thing about MRTG is you spit out reports by ETH ports + wan + WLAN as to customizing them, i havent gotten that far, however, you do need to have SNMP enabled on your router.

edit 2 : this may help when using MRTG

Netmeter wouldn't be a bad choice for this (can generate graphs for the last day) and it's free. Still, not perfect for your needs though. I don't know of any programs that show per-X-hour bandwidth usage specifically.

I tried DUmeter and netmeter, they are the kind of thing I was looking for. But as grumperfish said, there probably aren't any that can do 24 hour periods.

Argh, the one I didn't try!

thanks Tyranos

edit: In the totals log I have it set to MB daily and the period is today's date, but after setting the clock ahead, it just went to the next day. I'm doing it wrong.

Watch the values on the left, those are real time. On the right it'll show you calendar day periods.
