View Full Version : jab-tech Makes money on RMA
I ordered a D-tek Fuzion water block for $59.99 at jab-tech.com. after i received the block i realized that i ordered the wrong barb. I need fitting ID 3/8" instead of 1/2". i asked them to give me free shipping coupon so so i can oder 3/8" barbs instead of RMA for exchange. two 3/8" barbs costs $11.xx dollars including the shipping. I don't want to pay for the shipping that much that's why i asked for free shipping coupon. They didn't want to give me the coupon so they go for RMA. I paid $7 bucks for the RMA shipping. They received my RMA then they gave me a coupon for $59.99 which is what i paid for the WB and told me to reorder the WB instead of ship it back to me.
THE STORE SUPPOSES TO SHIP THE RMA BACK TO US INSTEAD OF ASKING US TO REORDER AND CHARGE US FOR ANOTHER SHIPPING HANDING. THEY MAKE MONEY ON RMA.
I told them if you don't ship it back to me then i want to refund; i don't want to pay for another shipping handing. they said if i want to refund i'll be charged 15% for restocking fee. The water block never been used/installed. The plastic pad is still stick on the waterblock surface and mounting hardware is still in sealed plastic bag. The WB is still brand new and they charge me 15% for restocking fee WTF? they need to send someone to NEWEGG to learn how to serve the customers
I don't want to be charged 15% for restocking fee then i go for reorder. now the water block costed around $80 including 3 times of shipping handing.
This is my first and also last time to shop at jab-tech.com. they suck. they sold me D-tech Fuzion water block for $80 . THEY MAKE MONEY ON RMA

Why should they be paying for your mistake?

couple questions, why would a company eat the shipping charges for a mistake you made? If it was a defective part I could understand being mad about being charged for shipping again, but for an error in your ordering of it, it's not their fault
Something doesnt sound right.
First of all. There are very few retailers that will give free shipping on parts, especially an RMA.
Its generally always at the customers cost.
Second, you made the mistake and ordered the wrong product. If they had mistakenly sent you the wrong product then I could see them shipping you the correct one for free.
Why they chose to have you re-order the product I cannot say, but they gave you the amount you paid for the original block.
I went to their site and the D-tek fusion is listed at $59.95 not $80. Perhaps you were looking at the wrong block?
why they charge 15% restocking fee for unused block ?
why they charge 15% restocking fee for unused block ?
I've come across more stores that charge restocking fees than not for unused (and sometimes used) merchandise that was returned at the customers fault.
It costs a company to process an order, look it up in the warehouse, pack it, ship it, and provide shipping information. Not to mention receive it, open it, check it for original contents, re-enter it into the system, and then re-inventory it at the warehouse.
15% restocking fees are very customary when not the company's fault.
Not to mention 15% is not that high. I have seen as high as 25% restocking fee. Its rare but still exists.

why they charge 15% restocking fee for unused block ?
If the waterblock package was opened, even if it wasn't used, then they cannot re-sell it as new. This means that they have to discount the price if they want to move it. Add onto that the costs that they have to go through with labor, storage, facilities costs, etc and it isn't a big deal.
While I do not like restocking fees and I don't buy from places that will charge me one, I do understand why they are there.
The water block box never had a little sticky sticker/label to seal the box so how do i know if they send me a brand new or opened one?
i can say they send me an opened one

... bbq IMHO you should have been paying attention before clicking ORDER. It's not Jab-tech's fault that YOU MADE A MISTAKE.
15% fee? That's like what... $9? Someone has to take the time to recieve your return, process your new order, fill out the paperwork, and ship out your new order. Time is money and money doesn't grow on trees.
You have no sympathy from me. Learn from your mistake and next time make sure you order the right part in the first place.
Time is money and money doesn't grow on trees.
You just crushed my orchard-growing dreams right there :(

LMAO
Do you actually think that you are in the right? Do you actually think that Jab-tec should pay for your mistake? I hope you learn a valuable lesson from this which is to make sure you know what you need before you place the order. Going after a retailer for something that is clearly your fault is just wrong.
Your best option would have been to order the new barbs and sell the wrong ones on the classifieds or ebay. You spent over 50% of the cost of the right barbs on shipping the RMA back

I have seen your review of Jab-Tech, which has a 9.56/10 lifetime rating by the way.
1. They state they did not charge you a restocking fee.
2. What you returned was received as opened and no longer new, leaving them at a loss due to your mistake.
3. i can say they send me an opened one
And I can say you are completely unethical in your thinking and take everything that you have posted in this thread with a grain of salt. I would have to say Jab-Tech is better off by not getting any more of your busin...ahem...mistakes. In fact, you're lucky I'm not a moderator over the Classifieds.
This thread is closed. There is no grounds for a complaint here. A good company has been taken advantage of and nothing more.
