Well I had this problem before on an old computer, and I had to turn off a certain service that was running (I think?) But I havn't messed with CS for awhile so if anyone else has had this same problem PLEASEEEEE help me out.

I load up CS fine all the other buttons work but right when I press the options button it stays lit as if you had clicked it. You can still move mouse and whatnot and close CS through the task manager. Also when I go to join a server it loads everything up but once it gets to the last strand of loading it does the same thing?

Thanks for the help in advance!

Did you try validating or reinstalling the game files?

What do you mean by validating? If I have already got a steam account what else is there to validate? Half-Life 2 works like a dream also.

And as for re-installing, I'm almost positive that will not help as I have had the same problem before. But I will try it out regardless.

Any other solutions would be highly appreciated!

Thanks for the help

PEACE

Validating your game files is the same as running chkdsk or repairing a program, thereby making sure they're the original, uncorrupted version. Do that by right-clicking CS:S, going to the "Local Files" tab, and clicking "Verify integrity of game cache". Also, does it do this in any other Source games, especially mods?

No like I said HL2 works perfect and I don't use any mods......yet. But it also does the same thing with DOD. So I'm kind of running out of ideas, but I will validate the files and see if something is up.

Thanks for the help!

If that doesn't work, the only other things I can think of are uninstalling all Source games or reinstalling Steam. Uninstalling is just reneaming "steamapps" to something else (after exiting Steam), and reinstalling Steam is deleting everything but the Steam executable and "steamapps". Click on Steam.exe, it'll download everything, and it's done. It should be about 30 MB of files.
