Did a upgrade from clean ME install. Seems the MS boot disk D/L got corrupted somehow. Oh well, np there:p
At 1st glance it looks like a 2 yr old and a crayon got loose @ MS
Gonna try it out the rest of this week and see how it does. :burn:
So far gaming (Delta Force 3) runs great.

The system I put the XP on is my small system.
A K6-3@450mhz(4.5x100) GF2MX 32mb, PC100, Maxtor 8 gig HHD:rolleyes: ....nothin special , but it runs.

Oh BTW: cordless keyboards and cordless mice work FINE with XP. Dell says they don't.

eh?

Its a little hard to get use to at first, but once you do you realize it has some nice features.

Best thing so far I like is the seperate accounts that can be set up. Keep the kids stuff outta mine and vis-versa.

Can't believe how much faster it is now-gaming- same game, newer vid driver (Nvidia XP) same machine. Much faster.

Got the same vid driver on the system in my sig below. Plays fine, but not great. Probably need to put an older driver in for my windoz 98se sys. lmao. :D

Customize? Hmmm, gotta look some more at it. My Laura Croft wallpaper looks good tho.

aren't the new nvidia drivers customized solely for the xp os? just wondering, think i read that somewhere?

Figured I'd atleast try them.

well if asking how to change em:
1. right click on desktop and properties
2. Themes tab

then just select the theme u want and BOOYAH!! :D

If ur asking where u can get some more themes, you can either make em urself or theres some great sites like: http://www.themexp.org :burn:

Beware that UPGRADING is very sketchy. A clean install of XP is best, plus the NTFS file system is much better than fat.

Get themes from themexp.org since they only utilize 1% of the cpu usage and they look neat.

Right now I'm using the silver theme which is identical to your blue crayon theme just silver like. You can select it from

Display Properties > Appearance>

Make sure the first of the 3 tabs of the bottom left area..

The first one should be: Windows XP Style

The second one should be: Silver instead of default blue.

Last night, I did a XP Pro upgrade instead of a clean one! What happens with a clean install! Everything seems okay!

belive tsunami hes right!!!! the upgrade will lag the computer and its unstablei just shy away from that

I know a clean install is better, but when I d/L'd the boot disk file from MS. # 5 disk was corrupt and I couldn't complete the install from scratch. So, I said screw it , put in ME, then upgraded.

I hate microsquat.

Does anyone know the difference between clean and upgrade?

I think that there are basically 3 ways to install an OS:

Upgrade - Replaces part or most of the existing OS, keeps applications, files and settings intact (for the most part) along with all the other junk that accumulates over time.

Full install over existing OS - Installs new OS over old OS, you lose settings, old files are kept, all applications have to be reinstalled. Still have all the old junk lurking around.

Clean install - no existing OS or files, newly formatted or reformated hard drive or partition, have to install all apps, no old drivers lurking around to screw up things.

Most people talk like a full install and clean install are the same thing but only a clean install will ensure that you do not have old drivers around to cause conflicts.
