So i got this 37" 720P all setup and its great. I can handle the 720p resolution but 1080 would be better...the TV can do 1080i, how can i set my computer up at that resolution? Just set it to 19xx X 1080 ???

I believe 1080i and 720P have the same resolution. The 19XX x 1080 is 1080P.

Not really 720p has a resolution of 1280x720 progressive scan, where as 1080i has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 interlaced. 1080p has the same resolution of 1080i but is progressve scan.

Right...so 1080i is at 30hz and 1080p is at 60hz, correct?

So something like gaming or video is probably better off at 720p, but for something like photoshop work or browsing the web, the interlaced shouldn't matter too much right?

Is it something i would have to enable on the TV, on the computer? BOTH?

well my DLP tv has a res of 1366x768 its 720P/1080i. IMO 1080i for movies and games looks like crap compared to 720p, to me any way.

i say just stick with 720P and dont worry about 1080i.

ive learned about this myself.

Use whatever your tv's native resolution is. which is gonna be 720p 1280x720

Well, as i said, this isn't for games or movies...

I guess i'll just give it a try when i get back home.

the text and such on screen isnt gonna be as crips and clear if you dont use your monitor's native resolution which is the 720p.

So unless you wanna see fuzzy text and such use the 720p and dont worry bout 1080i

Well, i got home and am able to answer my own question...

Just select the rez, then go to advanced and adjust refresh rate. There is an option for "30hz interlaced"...tada, 1080i

It def. doesn't look as good but that's to be expected. Having it set at 1920x1080 is really the perfect rez for this use, i wish i could have afforded a 1080p screen.

Oh well, men will never really be happy
