View Full Version : Celeron 1.2 specs
Has anyone noticed many web sites have the specs for the Celeron 1.2 all wrong? Some say it has 128k cache. Some say it runs on 133 bus. Still others say it is .18m arcitecture! Correct me if I am wrong but according to Intel's S-spec datasheet aren't all Celeron 1.2's 256k cache, 100bus and .13m arcitecture? I am looking to snag one to put in my Xmas present (a Gigabyte GA-60EXT) and want to be absolutely certain. Also I've heard the Phillipine chips seem to be o'cing better than the Malaysian. Is this true and if so has anyone gotten one recently? If so, where?
The 1.2 Tualatin Celeron has 100MHz FSB, .13 micron process, 256k L2 cache.
From what I've read here and from myself, it appears that ALL OEM 1.2 Cellys are made in the Phillipines. I suppose that the Retail chips are made in Malaysia. I have no idea if Flippy-made chips clock higher but the general consensus might be that there are more success stories of ocing with the flippy. Although, if you browse through the OC database, I see quite a few Malay Cellys up there.

Yes, I've noticed the same thing over at 2 stores that I've bought from before. It looks like they did a cut & paste job straight from Intel's Celeron web page, because Intel hasn't updated that page to include the differences in the 1.2 Celery. I imagine that Intel and/or the stores are going to be eating a bunch of burned/returned 1.2 Celerons due to the fact on no updated info on their sites on tualatin Celerons.

No one has ever said that the malay chips cannot do the 133 dance but it has been the high average that the philli chips will hit 1600MHz on lower vcores. In the time that I have been researching this chip I have not seen one that will not do 1600MHz and most to all do it under 1.65v. I have seen some do it at 1.5v. If you hang out here you will notice the malay chips usually need more juice than average to hit higher. Extol hits 1600MHz at default on the tusl2-c which actually has to be 1608MHz cause it runs 1 MHz over 133fsb.
Well I've ordered an OEM chip hoping it will be the Philli. Also a 350w Antec PS to replace my 250w as ol'man suggested in another thread. And getting a Gigabyte GA-60XET for Xmas. Looks like I'm gonna be havin' some fun soon!
Please update us on your Gigabyte :D

Sampei, it looks like we are on the same boat. I will be getting a GA-60XET as New year present, and a CPU..could be either PIII 1.2(maybe 1.26..only 8 dollars more) or a celeron 1.2.. for Chinese New year! yeah!
Bonka I will keep you updated and tainice, looks like we'll have alot to chat about!
Hey guys,
so where are you buying these oem philly chips?? I may be in the market for one soon and would like to try one. I have had three malaysian retails and the best I am getting is 1.5ghz @ 1.725 Volts. Kinda high, but it is perfectly stable there. I am of course the fool who killed my first two chips trying to remove the spreader. I learned a few things, but I don't know if the knowledge was worth $230. hehe Third chips still has his hat on and will stay that way for a while. Please pass on vendor's names that carry the oem Philly.

You can ask Ol'Man since I believe he has an OEM chip that he bought recently, not sure on that.
How much cash do you have to burn 2 chips :P
I've ordered my OEM chip from Directron.com but I won't know if it is Philli until it arrives. I will let y'all know when I get it.

No I have no OEM chips. I think it is a safe bet to get one of these if you simply order OEM so far from what I have heard. Even some of the retail chips are philli's but next to none on that one from what I have heard.

If you can't get the XET, can't you settle on the XET-C? I hear it lacks a few features but otherwise should be the same
tainice, check here. They are showing the GA-60EXT in stock for $115.
http://www.computerhq.com/store/store-detailspec.asp?type=retail&goodsid=1371
Well I was just e-mailed by ComputerHQ informing me the GA-60EXT is out of stock. I am not happy! Guess I'll be going with the Abit ST6R so ol'man you'll be hearing from me when it comes time to vid pin. I've never done vid pinning and wanted to avoid it if at all possible but now it looks like I have no choice.

There is nothing wrong with the GA-60XET-C either. The only differences in the boards is a single bios instead of the dual bios, it uses an AC97 codec instead of a Creative chip for sound, and only has 3 dimm slots instead of 4, which is still 1 more slot than what you really need. It uses the same bios as the XET and has the same 512 MB ram limitation due to the i815 chipset. They are still pretty easy to find on pricewatch. Axion technologies, which is the place I got my XET from, has the XET-C for around $92.

I know, and i know and i know, problem is, I have not got my refund back yet, so i cannot spend a dim on anything..besides, the sound chip is kindfa imporant for me, for i my sound card is ISA version, cannot use that on the board, and i am not willing to buy another sound card (if i do, i have to pay for it:D ). Well, looks like i have to wait til the store give me a note or anything. Sempei, check out http://directron.com/ga6oxe.html, for XET $104, and http://www.atacom.com/program/atacom_new.cgi?cart_id=9548034_4_47_146_157&USER_ID=www&Pagecode=1|MB3F&ADV=MOTHERBOARD, for XET-C, $84. Good luck
Thx tainice but Directron was the 1st place I tried and they were out of stock. I've ordered the Abit ST6R. I've always loved the Abit boards. As you can see from my sig, my old BH6 is still going strong. The XET-c might be good too but I'll see what I can do with the ST6R.
You can't get the XET any more?! That's why my retailer dosen't stock it anymore....Just lists the XT....
I'd better look after my baby....be pretty ****ed if I coulden't replace it if anything happened....
Hey Flu!d, where do you live? Maybe I'll come visit when you're not home. Leave your door open HA HA! I was looking forward to that board but oh well.

Just got this thing working after several hours of figuring out why my net connection didn't work.
Just need to flash my bios now. Apparently, you need to run the setup in pure dos mode? I tried booting to floppy, but it didn't work. Any suggestions?

Hmmm... Are you sure you included every file needed on the floppy?
There are flash-disc where it is a utility where it flashes for you.

Forgot that win2k does not have pure dos anymore. Just made a bootdisk with dos files (dos 6.22) on them. Problem solved.

Haha I just figures out what is going on with the GA-60XET, it has 1/5 and 1/6 dividers:D
No doubt man. At 166fsb it runs the agp/pci @ 66/33 and also at 200fsb it runs the AGp and pci at 66/33 also.
These are beta bioses so you have to realize that that is really what is goin on here. I always though it had something to do with a turbo pLL being installed on the board. Nope that is no the case. Plain and simply the Gb board has 1/5 and 1/6 dividers.
With these the .13u 1GHz celery owners are going to have a hay day:D
I love my Gigabyte mobo [kiss, kiss]....
If it ever dies i'm gonna jump in front of a bus!:D

If the XET/XET-C is all that it's cracked up to be, looks like I'll be checking out one of those in the near future  Good thing too if it's that good, can get it local for $135CDN :burn:

hey guys, as i look through the whole situation again, i found out that maybe i will put off with Celeron 1.2 but go for P4. i heard that there will be new chips coming out sometime jan. for intel and amd. And a price cut by intel at late jan.:D if i don't receive my XET, then i will definitely hold a little long to see what happens. by the way, wish a great holiday to ya all:)
