OC is off. Already ran configonly and everything is OK. Just started this problem this morning.
Took out the work folder and started from scratch. I am wondering if I have damaged the CPU.2nd-error.jpg (http://www.ocforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=58993&stc=1&d=1187450170)

Can't see that second attachment d... how about just posting up some of the log. WinSMP or LinuxSMP? I assume WinSMP since it likes to bug out. :)

Unlikely cpu damaged if the os still boots ... what were you doing to the rig?
just post the fahlog.txt in code tags so we can have a looky.
D, when you look at your system with Task Manager, etc., are you seeing just normal processes and services running?
One reason it couldn't start Gromacs would be because it can't find the contiguous memory it needs.
May just need a bit more memory - reboot should do that nicely. No new software or services using up some memory that SMP needs?
Again, the task manager should be helpful, here.
Any changes recently to this folder?
Been away all day. No Adak 2GB's of memory, I have done nothing at all.
Done mutilple reboots to get the clock speed down. This thing just folds.
It either just sits there at MD or errors.

End process on the fahcore exes, mpiexec, and any smpd processes you see. In the fah main folder, delete your work folder, the queue file, the core exe, and the logfile and restart fah with the -verbosity 9 argument. See if it gives you any further information as to what might be going on.
when you want to kill the processes started by the client, just kill mpiexec.exe - it will end any fahcore's still running, and release any file handles held on the files in work dir.
If you have restarted the client after an error, you could have 2 mpiexec.exe's running. On a properly running client there will only be 1 running.
After restarts without clean client shutdowns, there could have been corruption in the work files. Delete work dir and queue.dat after the client and all tasks are stopped and you should get the same wu downloaded again when you restart the client ... unless you have deleted the wu 3 times or the deadline is passed, in which case you will get a new wu.
There was no mpiexec.exe running just 2 smp.exe. No Queue.dat to delete just Work.

Ok some of this will seem redundant but try it anyway.
Go ahead and reboot if you've run fah at all since your last boot. Once rebooted, delete the things that were mentioned earlier: the work folder, queue(i see it in your screenshot), the core exe, and the logfile(gives you a clean file after you start over). Once you've done that run fah again and see what happens.
I've been through that same error countless times in my troubleshooting over the past few days, and that took care of it.
Also, you need .net framework 2.0 installed before you can run it. It will look like it starts, but the cores won't properly engage without it.
I'm not getting my hopes up too high but it looks like we might have a go.:)
I'm not sure what did it but reversing those windows updates might have been it.

There were a whole number of security fixes.
I'm late to the party and see you've got it going. FYI, CoreStatus = 63 (99) is a permissions error.

Ok it started on its next WU but I was worried that not deleting files may have led it down this road in the first place.

The SMP client always has trouble deleting files. Don't worry about it.

Absolutely normal, that message should be removed from the next version. It causes no problems.
Dave, when you did your update, were you logged in to the same account you fold with?
I'm about to take that leap, myself.
ADAK if you can, do them one at a time that way we might identify which one it is.
Yes same account, it was friday night and there must have been like 10, I have been meaning to start putting them back one at a time.
That's my only guess as to what caused my problem, its the only thing I did. This Win client was running almost as flawlessly as my Linux.
Wasted a whole day thinking my CPU was too hot.

I'm having the same error as you did dfonda..where it would just keep downloading a new core (I'm up-to-date with MS updates). I have administrator privileges but no password..so i just use a space to signify that...
Is that okay? also..noob question..how do you put in those commands in like -verbosity?

You need to have a password or it will not work. As for the switches, you can either manually type them in if you launch from the command line, or make a simple batch file that you can just double click on from your desktop.

You don't need a bat file ... just create a shortcut to fah.exe and right click on the shortcut, select properties, and put your flags at the end of the target string with space between the end of the target string and your flags. This does the same thing as opening a command window and typing in the program name and flags when you launch the shortcut.
