I couldn't get one to work well with Usb, So I spent $10 on a NIC and used that instead of Usb, and haven't had a problem with it.

Not really. USB can transfer up to 12Mbps, but really you don't need that for a 56k modem, because you are never going to reach speeds that fast. I myself like my Creative external modem. It is a parrellel/serial port one. I found this works better then the usb one I first bought.
Thanks Sir-Epix;
I have a Diamond SupraMax External that uses the serial port.
I bought it for $22 and it works good.
The place I bought it doesn't list them anymore and I wanted another.
I'll have to check pricewatch.
:D
OOPS!
Check that!!
It's a SupraExpress 56K

Other than being a total pain to install and configure there are no other advantages to a USB modem.
Im on att/wesuck/cable using a sb modem with a usb adapter card inplace of a nic and never had a prob with it.Yes it flows 12megs but cable doesnt come close to that and gaming at lan parties is no problem.
