I was putting a Chrome Orb onto my northbridge, and as I removed the old 40mm fan I pulled the cables out of the fan plug, afaik the system will not start without this fan attached :(

You cannot just plug it back in? Or did you ruin the plug itself?

Mine will run without anything plugged in. However, I would try to rig something up to get that plug fixed, because you do need the cooling...

Wait, you were going to plug in the Chrome orb anyway, weren't you?

The chrome orb has a 3Pin plug, the Chipset cooler only a 2 pin :(

And yes, the plug is ruined

You mean the Chrome Orb has a 3 pin connector or the mobo has a 3 pin connector? Or does the mobo only have a 2 pin connector? Maybe you can try sottering the cables back into the connector? I don' t know. Good luck bro!

Hmm I'm not understanding the problem here...

Your Chrome Orb is a 3 pin connecter. Chipset is a 2 pin.

You killed the chipset pin connecter. Your orb is a 3 pin connecter why wont your system start up then? All you did was kill the 2 pin and you have your chrome on your northbridge right?

I plugged the chrome orb into the PSU and left the broken plug as it is, works :)

I just had a random reboot, so I'm not too sure hoe well the northbridge is actually cooled, seeing that one part of the heatsink is mounted on using cable ties (Wrong dimensions:()

One of the BIOS versions has the option to turn that setting off. I do not remember which one, might be ZT?

I've sorted the prob - it does run without the fan :D

Now I just have to find out why it reboots @ 1.4?

I have the kt7a and the newer bios updates allow you to disable this. If you need the computer to get on the internet just plug in a small fan to this header. It does'nt matter wether you are using it for anything or not and go get the bios or whatever you need off the net. I had to do this way back before I flashed the bios.
