Wow that looks pretty neat. Where would you place it- between the hs&f and the core? And how do you connect it?

They're not very good, though. Radio Shack isn't known for quality. I suppose it's good for minor cooling, but I wouldn't want one in near my parts

Too bad they don't have what wattage they are.

I would never buy that from them, the only thing I would buy from them are ramsinks.

There's no wattage theres no warning that it can cause condensation..

They're not too good with CPUs they're just a general electric store.

Amps x Volts = Watts...130 for the biggest one.

www.tedist.com Great quality, very nice potted modules, priced the same as R.S.
http://www.tedist.com/overclk.html Has a good description of what we need.

Yah man, TE Dist rocks. Great products, prompt shipping, and one of their techs even helped me calculate all the details for one of my older cooling projects even tho my order was only about $50!

EDIT: oh and only 2 bucks for potting... other places i tried wanted upwards of $15!

I never knew that potting made a difference and after reading that i think moisture killed my last 2 72W peltiers. Possible?

Very possible. Air trapped even in the smallest places can lead to condensation. Alot of people I've seen using tec's even fill the center of the socket with foam or dielectric grease because trapped air can cause condensation on the pins under the processor.
Add in the current these things run, and it only takes a drop.

Yea I've read that is a way you can prevent it and some silicon around the chip and stuff I forgot.

Radio shack= " built by the lowest bidder for thier products"

I'll never forget that line that the manager at the local RS told me.....

lol that is so true- I was an RS manager back in the day. However- I can honestly say that the TECs there are not typical RS crap- they are just resold at RS. They come in the original packaginag and everything. They are just as good as ones you would order from a 'net store. The wattage is listed on the back of the package, if memory serves.

A while ago I just emailed them and had them get me more info, I ended up at the manufacturers site- they were a regular old reputable business.

SOME few thing at RS are good, this is one of them. The trick is finding which ones!:)

That's power consumed not the Qmax rating of the TEC. Based on TEDist specs the biggest looks like an 80W TEC.

wouldn't you think Imax x Vmax = Qmax
says in the 2001 catalogue for the biggest:
Vmax = 15.40
Imax = 8.5

= 130.9?

Even when reading the above mentioned link on peltiers, apply a 75% efficiency using it at 12v instead that would still be 100W.

As for knowing that they existed , yes i knew for awhile now seeing they listed them in their catalogue for 2001. They were special order through their web site though.
