I have an oppurtunity to get a used (for a few months) Vapochill (Socket A setup). The guy offering it to me is tired of trashing Athlon cores. A month a ago I would have been peeing myself with joy.

But alas, after reading so many horror stories of chipped cores and dozens of dead CPU's -- I am really scared about trying it out.

You guys here are perhaps the best O/C'ers in the world and many of you have Vapos. How real are my fears? What are the chances that I will destroy my XP 1900+? Any tips for Vapo newbies?

Anyone out there not had any problems with theirs??

I am an experience Overclocker and have used everything from a Dragon Org 3 to CoolerMaster crap to Swifty MC462 to DD Maze 2. I have never chipped core (knocking on wood) and I hope never to do so.

Please, offer an tips you can? If there are any Vapo owners in the L.A. area -- I would gladly pay you in beer to help me install my chip in this thing.

You should read some reviews at least 10 of them since the reviews have some very detailed specifics that we all won't provide you thats why you read multiple reviews.

If this guy had killed so many cores I wouldn't get it, sounds very risky and I wouldn't like to kill core after core since you'd be blowing so much cash. I mean how much is he selling it for you for?

Get it sell it off Ebay for half or 1/3 of the price its worth and then buy some extreme water cooling heh.

Or Koolance case are an easy setup.

you should get it

Ive heard that if you take your time in setting it up you wont end up with a cracked cpu

just dont rush though the setup and you should be fine:D

a 1900xp should overclock great with a vopochill

I doubt it's that easy m8. His seller said that he broke many cores after breaking one core I think that his next setup on the vapochill he would be very careful and the third time hell I wouldn't even give it a third try :p

I would take my suggestion buy it for the low price and then sell it and you can get some extreme cooling right there..

Water Cooling + Peltier :)

I'm on my second one, and have never killed a CPU.

You stand a much better chance of destroying somthing by having a water leak, a pump fail, a pelt PSU belly up, or a condensation leak fry somthing.

It's just like anything, if you take your time, and you're patient, it's a breeze.

I have modded mine in several ways to make it perform better, but the easiest way is to replace the Evaporator hold down screws with longer ones.

It takes me longer to R&R the PSU than a new CPU.

I hope this NFO helps you out......

I have Killed 3 Athlons with mine. It is a very hard process for me and and many others. It took me numerous tries to get it right. I can now do it safely but it didnt come without losses. The rewards from the danger and price can be very good but you cant be light hearted as you can lose a cpu in a second. I recomend you goto www.vapochill.com and read there forums and decide wether or not you want one.

I've thought about doing this so I can swap blocks faster without worrying so much. Do you guys think this would help?

get it.

Practice it without a chip in the Mobo.

Do this 20 times, or until you think you can do it without messing up.

Do it with chip.

If the price is right, go for it.
