On a hunch I had a friend of mine take the new 8500 and install it on his backup system. Guess what, it's perfect. Now I read on the home page of OC.com here that there may be a problem with VIA chipset MOBO's and ATI AGP cards? Anybody have any ideas here? I'm goin nuts trying to figure this out. No POST, no nothing when I install this card in my pc. Can I install ATI's drivers on my old Diamond ViperV770 while it's up and running, then install the ATI card? I don't even get the bios or POST screen when I repower the pc. HELP!!!!!

try flashing a new bios, there were problems but i believe that most mobo companies fixed it with a new bios....

Did that. Set all my bios settings to auto for agp stuff. uninstalled my detonators, went back to WinXP defualt drivers. On a side note, how do I set my display to VGA in WinXP?? I can't seem to find a way to do this?

Since you tried flashing your mobo......
REFORMAT
That solved every issue I had with Going from Nvidia to ATI
I tried Det. Destroyer and all sorts of stuff but the Format rectified my issues, your milage may vary but may be the solution.

reformat??? that's pretty severe isn't it? Now I'm getting the run-around from ATI, "It isn't our cards problem, you have a MOBO problem". Skuze me? If I can return this card I'm going back to Nvidia... ATI seems to stand for "Another Terminated Installation"
