My old celery would do better than 1.5GHz easily but I have set this down for ultimate stability for my bro. The difference between the two chips is astounding. One would boot windows at 1.6GHz and 1.7v not stable but I can't even boot windows at 1.6GHz and 1.8v with this new one. Max temps never rise above 44 deg. C when ambient is 25 deg.C or 78 deg. F. Most people usually leave their house cooler than this but it was a good test to see what it could do at higher ambient temps. I even shut down all internal fans except the HS and PSU fan to let temps rise and found around 49 deg. C to be the breaking point of HARD LOCKOLA
I know my moms house never gets above like 70 deg. C so this box should do just fine. If temps do get above 85 deg. C then I do have a little buffer there.
What I did for the stability test was run it at 1.5GHz/1.7v with prime95/sandra burn in 50%/internet with about 10 windows open/ATI TV wonder going non stop which adds alot of heat and other possible problems. Ambient at 78 deg. F or 26 deg. C.
It ran for 24 hours without error in prime. I am calling it good. I possibly could do higher but I am not going to try it as I am excepting failure with this chip:D It will not do 1600MHz without extreme cooling. I feel this chip is a little under average but 1500MHz still is not bad for a measily 100 or so bucks.
I should have my .13u PIII going soon and then we will see what the FSB limit is for these .13u chips! For FSB smokness the 1.13/512k cache may be a good combo with the GB GA-60EXT. How would a 200FSB sound? Only thing is I would need to find some ram that would do that speed to see its true potential.
