Battlefield 2 WILL NOT update/patch. Please help

So i bought the Battlefield 2 deluxe Edition from Gamestop. I installed it, downloaded and installed the 1.41 patch from the EA website, started the game up, and its not patched so i cant play online...

Any ideas on what im doing wrong?

You might have not obtained the stand alone patch but rather a 1.40 to 1.41 type patch.

If this is not the case... then uh... Do you have a battlefield account? I believe you have to register one and then activate it via email. Have you received a confirmation email from EA?

Yes i have an EA Account and can log into it.

And i download this patch
http://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/patches/BF2/1.41/BF2_Patch_1.41.exe

which is over 500mb's big so im sure its the full patch

Are you installing to your default C: drive or are you installing to another partition? Sometimes the patch will try to install to the C: drive by default.

Im installing it to my C drive which is my main partion that has the game on it.

And the version is 1.1.2965 that i have now

Hmmm, try deleting the BF2 folder in "My Documents" and reinstalling the patch. Aside from that I would suggest uninstalling the entire game and reinstalling.

Just logon and try to play multiplayer, you'll get a message that your out of date and you need to patch it. It will ask if you want to download the patch now, click yes and it will take you where you need to go. 2 Hours later and you're good to go. :)
