Well, i'll be setting up my SSH server soon. This will be the only mchine in the house that would be on close to 24hrs a day. The system has 2x PIII 600mhz CPU's and right now 512MB RAM (upgrading soon).
Since this system will be serving files via SSH i imagine there will be a lot of left over cycles. What are your thoughts on using this as a folder? Yea or Nay? I havent folded for a long time... last time was for a SETI team. lol.
If it's on 24 hours a day anyway, fold on it. A P3 600 will make about 30 ppd so you're looking @ 55 - 60 ppd on normal WUs and 60% to 80% more on bonus WUs if you can afford having FAH tie up 200 MB of ram and the net bandwidth of 5 to 30 MB uploads. It will make all prefered deadlines running 24/7 except those of p1164 thru p1171.

This part i understood. I'll be upgrading to 1GB of PC100 ECC soon as well as a Business Cable line (6MB down and 768k up) so i don't think there will be an issue there.

huh? lol.
Work units have deadlines, preferred and final. If a WU isn't returned by the prefered deadline, it is assigned to someone else and the work gets duplicated. If the WU isn't returned by the final deadline, you get no points for it. In the case of p1164 through 1171, the prefered deadline is 7 days and the final deadline is 80 to 87 days. The P3 600 is going to take about 11 days to complete one of these WUs, so you'll get the points but someone else will likely complete the WU before you do (a XP-M @ 2.4 takes 2.1 days to complete p1164-71). Other WUs have much longer prefered deadlines which you will make. If your machine were incapable of making the prefered deadlines on more than just these few projects, I wouldn't recommend you fold on it, as you would actually be slowing down the project, but that isn't the case.
