Hello everyone.

I finally got some free time over this past weekend, so I decieded to get started on OC'ing my somewhat new Conroe setup. This is also my first intel system in around ~9 years! My last intel chip was a PII 450, since then its been AMD all the way. It almost felt wrong switching back to Intel... lol
But the proformace is great, and thats the number one concern. So far I am extremely happy with the results. I got a nice 25% boost in mhz over stock, whats not to love!

Here are my system specs:

Intel Conroe C2D e6700
MSI PN6 Platinum
Corsair 2gb PC6400
eVga 8800GTS

Here are the settings:

C1E - disabled
EIST - disabled
D.O.T. - disabled
All Spread Spectrum settings - disabled

Bus speed option - set to Manual

FSB - 333mhz (1333)
CPU Multiplier - 10
Mem Speed - 400mhz (800)
vCore +.0375 (in windows cpu-z reports idle 1.336 load 1.304)

Stability:

Orthos Blend Test: 27+ Hours
Orthos Small FFTs: 32+ Hours

So far so good. Everything seems to be running smoothly.

Nice work. If you can get the temps in check a little, you probably have a lot more left in that cpu. ;)

I'm thinking 450*8, ram at 1:1.

What cooler have you got btw?

Any idea of the stepping on that chip? (printed on the side of the box and on the chip)

I just got a simlar reply over at hardforum in regards to the heatsink.

I'm using the Thermalright 120xp.
The ambient temp in the room is ~25C and it is also pretty humid. With the side of the case off I recorded a peak core temp of 60C, but most of the time it was hovering around ~55C. I'm assuming if the ambient temp were in the low seventies F and no humidity that my load temps would be alot lower.
As a reference, with the PC runing completely stock and with the case closed my idle was low 30s and load (prime95 is always running in the bakcground) around ~52C.

I have been thinking about adding a extra 120mm fan to my case, and also picking up a new HS for my cpu. I just havent deceided on which HS to get as of yet. I'm also a little worried that the new generation HS will not be much better the the xp120.

I'm going to have to check the Box when I get home from work. I have it tucked away somewhere.

CPU-Z in the pic says B2.

That was easier.
