i pulled my hsf, cpu lastnight, so i could do som modifications on my heatsink at work(mill off .050", and surface grind it)

Put it back in, and it won't boot @ 1400. all i can get is 1050mhz.

things i did wrong, and what i see :
1) i pulled the chip with power cord still in ps
2) i have arctic silver kinda all over the chip and various areas
( tried wiping it off with alchohol/Kleanex

hmm

well if i fried it then i have an excuse to get a new cpu :p

my kg7 will support the xp chip, and is it worth it ?
any help would be greatly apreciated.

PS: if anyone needs any CNC milling done(waterblocks,Heatsinks etc.), I'll be very reasonable to any overclocker members only.

$ 60+ for a waterblock is rediculous!

thanks

Doesn't sound fried to me as it still works at a lower cpu speed.

Yeah I would try a Q-tip with alcohol to get off any AS2 thats left on there, especially the bridges,I know that stuff is hard to remove completely.

well it was kinda strange after letting it run for a while
@1000, i went back to 11.5*135 and it ran ok.

Generally I am thrilled if it posts, "It's Alive!". Default on a cmos reset on my board for the same chip is 1050.

prolly something is making the wrong briges to interact... try to remove all the goop from the chip. though nothing like that never happened to me, I always want to keep my chip free from any thing/goop on the package..

Dude, you reset ur bios, you need to go ahead and flash it, that's just ur bios bro.

Nothin to do with ur chip...

Also. i benched 8943 i think, with my 1.8 xp, gf2 pro 64mb ddr, 384mb of pc2100 ddr ram, and my 46.1 gb ibm 7200 rpm w/ 20gb 5400 rpm raided software.
