Nub cake needs some advice here :confused:

Been working on making 3ghz stable for 3 days now.

It will boot and post but will not even complete a 3dmark most of the time.

Settings are as follows: ( these are my "base" settings that I am working off of )

fsb=1333
mem=667 ( timings = 5-5-5-15-2t ( for testing purposes ))
ratio=9
vcore=1.320
mem v= auto or 2.10 ( does not seem to effect results )
nb= 1.3
sb=1.50
vtt= 8%

I have tried the following and gotten these results:

bumping nb = bsod
bumping vcore = instant reboot once windows loads
bumping sb = 3/5 test ( then reboot )
bumping sb again = 1/5 ( then reboot )
vtt up to 12 % = instant reboot

Temps are not the prob. I am on water and under 55c.

Can anyone help??

Yeah. Get a real motherboard :bday:

Try setting your voltages to auto, set your vcore to 1.350, leave your memory timings set to auto/SPD.

The NB volts seems kinda low.......

refresh my mem but is this a 680i board? if it is it might be one of the early ones with not enough GTL voltage. GTL voltage is what helps clock quads....

ya, 680i chipset.

Mainboard Link - http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=1168&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=170

What exactly is "GTL" ? found a few pages talking about it, but not defining it...

Try it w/ just 2 sticks of RAM. 4 sticks puts quite a load on the NB.

went to one stick of memory and ran a mutitude of different settings. I am currently at defaults due to frustration. I have tried just about tried every possible combinations of speed / voltage settings. Im starting to think that my cpu is a bad batch one or my mainboard is crap.

If anyone is using the same combo of cpu/ mb. please post your settings

push more volts through your cpu. If it is stable, that was your problem. If that doesn't work, push volts into NB and SB and see if it is stable.

As stated previously....your NB voltage is wayyy to low for OCing and wayyy to low for 4 sticks of memory so combining the two issues Im not surprised you cant get the board stable. Try starting at 1.5 or 1.55v for the NB and go to 1.45 on the CPU.....

thx for replies. Will boost voltages and report back
