View Full Version : Acer Aspire 5050 laptop overclock?

I am looking to over/underclock my acer aspire 5050 laptop but can't work out how. If anyone could help me that would be great!
EDIT: Sorry I forgot to add it is an amd turion 64 mk-36 2.2ghz with 1 gb of ram and has been downgraded from vista to xp

Your only options are software based and IMHO not worth the time or trouble.

Laptops cannot be overclocked via the BIOS. As Trap05 stated, you can only do it via software to increase the FSB, but doing this will also increase Memory and PCI Bus speeds as they will not be locked...thus possibly killing your HDD and other components due to the increased bus speed.

You cannot "underclock it", but you can reduce the voltage so it runs cooler. I'm not sure if the MK processors support it, but you can try. Use RM-Clock Utility to do it.
