View Full Version : Adding another computer question?

I added the client and the foldmonitor to my laptop yesterday(P3 1000) and I've turned in 2 WU off of it since adding it to my other 2 computers folding. The question I have is this: It is not showing any finished WU's in the client, but the foldmonitor is showing 2 logged WU's being done by the laptop. It is configured the exact same way as the other 2 computers that I have folding. From the way my score has jumped up since this morning I am guessing that at least 1 of the WU's done by my laptop has been counted, but I'm not sure. Why isn't the folding client showing 2 finished WU's on my laptop? Also, the team stats at Stanford still show me with only 2 processors working this week. Can anyone fill me in on what is going on. I would appreciate any info provided.
As a side note; I just broke into the top 110 on our team!:D I'm out to kick a** and fold names.:D :D

Or is it queued? I believe I have seen in other posts that say sometimes the results aren't sent in succesfully but a new wu can be dl'd so the client keeps going. I think you can check your queue but I'm not positive on this. Hey this another good question for the FAQ. Somebody more knowledgeable than I will have the answer.

I have an update on my laptop. I sent in my third WU from it this morning at 8:00AM and it finally shows 1 finished WU in the client, even though it has actually has finished 3. The count is wrong but at least it is starting to count the finished WU's. I just checked the stats page again and it is still only showing 2 active processors this week. I guess that I'll check it again this evening and see if the stats page has updated me to 3 processors running this week.
EDIT: How could I check to see if the results are queued on my laptop?

I'm using the version 2.15 graphical client on all three computers. I have all of them configured with muddocktor as the username and 32 in the team number. Also, I left the internet and proxy settings at the default when I installed them.
I don't run the screensaver mode; I leave them folding in the backgound at all times.

Why not just run the client mode CLC its alot better and complies quicker then the graphic one.. inless U don't mine the long wait.. and U can see just what is does without all the fancy graphic's. just download the CLC
**Edited by SpeeDj - You can find Command line clients for folding on the Folding pages at stanford. And yes CLC does run a bit faster than Graphical ever will. Recruitment threads can be found in GD. Let's keep it civil.**

I wasn't trying to be derogatory. What I was saying in so many words was..I believe muddocktor was asking a question about Folding@home and it looks like you are referring to Seti. Thats all I was trying to say. The sentence about recruiting was a joke hence the wink face.

ok well seti and folding are both alike they are both crunching and compling programs.. so I was using mine as a example... Hence my wicked tracks...:burn: :eh?:

That is BS. you were trying to recruit in a not so very nice way.
the console ver. is not faster. stick wuith the what you are using and please ignore wolfsid and his advice. your results should show up just doublecheck your config and give it a little time.
Yes but seti is not still in the experimental stage all the bugs have been worked out in the stats accumulation and also in the client they have not released a different client for a long time. Folding is still in the experimental bug/troubleshoot stages. I do run both coincidentally, let's keep it civil. Thank you!

SpeeDJ,
it is still very confusing for a new member who reads this thread.
plus the info he gave about the console ver. does not corespond to folding. In my opinion he wasn't trying to help with the problem just trying to confuse. Yes F@H2 still has some bugs which makes it more important to keep this stuff away it is just confusing people.
Would rather I delete this thread ? I really don't believe your post in Seti was warranted. He never said hey run SETI now! Let's keep it civil.
J
Ok I thought I was being civil. It is just that by giving directions on how to run the seti console he is saying run Seti. At least that is how I see it. I am not trying to start a fight or anything. I made the post over at Seti before you responded to the thread. If you want me to delete it I will, but I didn't want this kind of thing to start happening on a regular basis.
This is the first in months it has happened, please delete your thread from seti. Thank you, I will edit this one and take out the offending posts. Deal ?

Wow. Miss a day....
Anyway. I don't know if the queueinfo question was ever answered, but it needs to be done with the command line version and I do not think that you are able to have the client running while you try this.
You can create a shortcut and insert the -queueinfo flag in the shortcut and run it from the shortcut and then check the log file or you can Click Start, Run and type in 'cmd' It will bring up a dos window. From there you can type(this is an example of where the client is on my HD)
C:\Program Files\Folding@Home\FAH2Console.exe -queueinfo and it will bring up the details right in front of you. If there is anything in queue it can be sent by typing C:\Program Files\Folding@Home\FAH2Console.exe -send #
The # represents whatever the number of the wu is that is waiting in queue. It may show only one wu in the list. In this case it is probably the one you are working on at the moment and it won't get returned because it isn't finished.
Also. The Command Line client is fine. I like the GUI version better for a couple of reasons. 1- It really doesn't slow things down like SETI. I've checked the running percentage of CPU time with both and they were pretty close. 2- It's easier to configure than the command line unless they fixed that problem and 3- Testing for the GUI client has been much better than testing for the command line even though they are supposed to be identical in functionality. I personally think that they threw that command line version together in a hurry. It works, but that's my reasoning for it.
Now the screensaver only version I can't say anything about let alone anything good. That was a rotten piece of software with 1.0 and there were a number of problems with it out of the gate when 2.0 was just getting started.

OK, the Stanford site is finally showing me with 3 processors Folding. I guess that they must still be working bugs out the software or something. The way it looks, I might make the top 100 Folders for team 32 tomorrow! I guess it's time for a  .:D
