Need some advice on what v-card to get for christmas...
Heres my choices. Im basically a hardcore gamer. I would also like to have svideo tv-out. Newayz heres the choices...
Ati 7500 with tv-out
Ati 8500 oem with tv-out
Ti200 with tv-out
Specs:
Intel pIII 800eb
256 pc-133 ram
Asus Cuv4x MB
Voodoo 5500 <- ran its course
quantam 30 giger 7200rpm
sblive value
Bit of an old system, not ready for a complete overhaul as of yet.
Lookin for a cheap solution for the time being. Will i see a noticable diff goin from a v5500 to a 7500? The 7500 is lookin like the winner so far....
Neways, would appreciate ne feedback

the 7500 will crush the Voodoo5 expect maybe 2 times the speed....also i suggest the 8500OEM because for 20 more dollars than the Ti200 youre getting almost regular Geforce3 performance, and if you listen to SilverSink Sam you can probly get an OEM card that overclocks to past Retail speeds, it all depends on how often you upgrade, if you plan on upgrading next year then the 7500 is perfect, more than two years the 8500 is the way to go...

the v5500 is a voodoo card, made by the late 3dFX. The 7500 is an ATI card, a Radeon. I would either go with the Ti200 or the 8500. For your money, the 8500 would be a better buy, but i would get a GF3 standard or a GF3 ti500 if you could.
i would go with the 8500 from those choices
i'm waiting a little for ATI's and Nvidia's next line of Video cards

How much is an oem 8500 going for now?
the card has to have a 250 core and tvout..(canadian coin)
Has anyone got one of these cards?
The Radeon 8500 OEM, is clearly the best choice. If you get one with 3.6ns RAM's you almost guarantied Retail speed's. Then you are running just as fast as a TI500! Overclock the card even higher, and you will have yourself a nice little TI500 Basher :D
I have a R8500 OEM, but it's with crappy 4ns RAM's, but still I'm able to get over Retail speed's

For $100 US I say it is a no brainer, go with the 7500 cause of price. I go for price to performance and I think the 7500 is overlooked by many cause it will more than suffice for the majority and give you great performance.
It is $60+ US dollars cheaper than a G3 Ti200 or an $70- 80+ cheaper than an oem 8500 which is a crapshoot cause who knows what you'll get.
My 7500 is retail, has 4ns Hynix ram, does 1024x768 TV out so I have read and seen someone else post but I have not tried.
The overclock with these cards is very good, most retail 7500's will do 340/540 with just a lap of the heatsink. I slapped a Crystal Orb and ramsinks and I have got 342/562 out of it stable and I know it will go further with better case ventialtion, prolly top at 345/572.
Performance is on par with a overclocked G2Ti200 /Geforce 2 cards and a Geforce 2 Ultras when the 7500 is overclocked. Thats is sweet performance but it offers some newer technology.
I agree the retail 8500 is the bomb but you gotta drop like $100-120 more and you can not guarantee you will get a good oem that wil overclock if you skimp out on the cost to save a few bucks.
Silversinksam got a great deal but as he said you can only guarantee 275/275 by buying retail.
Thats a huge increase over stock of 290/460. I think it is a great buy and value!!

Well ive narrowed it down to 2 cards..
8500 retail-389$
8500 oem(250mhz core)-314$ (canadian)
Has anyone done ne real world benchmarks between the 2, cause i would like to c if the 75 dollar difference is worth it..
Anyone know if both these cards have tv-out?
thanx guys
Canadian OEM IS an original Card, but usually OEMs have something like 500 Mhz mem( vs. 550 retail) and usualy are less perfect.

Get the retail card as it is your better bet for overclocking, OEM is a crapshoot, alos better warranty with retail
cisco kid
Yep, get the OEM, but be sure to get one with 3.6ns RAM's

Both have TV- out. The only differ between the OEM and Retail is the speed and voltages, on the core and the RAM's.
Also some OEM has slower RAM's, but I have already mentioned that....

Also 8500 can only do TV out at 800x600 7500 can do TV out at 1024x768.

I read earlier today that the gf3 ti200 had beaten the radeon 8500 in a few benchies.. i believe i saw these benchies from an article posted above... Wtf is up with that? I was under the impression that the 8500 was suppose to rival the ti500?
Anyways those benchies have me doubting the ati cards, although nvidia would be a last resort... the ti200 is lookin like the better buy (performance wise) Another thing is y does the lower priced card (7500) have 1024x768 support and the 8500 800x600. This makes no sense...
Anyways, im having a tough time trying to decide on which v-card.
With an 800eb which card would give me the most performance?

Yes the 7500 does TV support at 1024x768 and the 8500 only at 800x600 as all the other cards do. I am sure the G3 Ti200 and Ti500 only do it at 800x600.
Second the 8500 flatens a G3 Ti200 with the newest drivers. The 8500 is on par with the Ti500 as far as performance goes, slight edge may be for the Ti500 but most expect the 8500 to surpass with next driver release.
I have owned 3 ATI cards and 2 nvidia cards and I have not had troubles with driver issues.
I prefer the ATI cards but that is my choice.
I do not think you will be disappointed with a 8500 or a 7500 which I think is the best deal going right now , cheap as $107 and they overclock really well.
Also best to buy a retail card if you can just to make sure unless the oem vendor can verify the ram you will get and the bios version which I do not think many will. OEM is a crapshoot and thats why it is cheaper.
