Hey I saw this new cooler master case (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119137&Tpk=cooler%2bmaster%2b690) on newegg. It looks really sweet. Free shipping is always nice for cases since it costs like $15. I love CM!!! I'm really tempted to get this.

That's a pretty nice looking lcase and layout for the price. Just straight-up no frills good design. I'm not a fan of side vents though, cools the hotspots but can mess up an airflow plan plus it looks like it will need some dust filters, cheap and easy enough to do though. Nice find, now find me a mATX compact HTPC-style case that has 4 internal 3.5" HD bays which are fan-cooled!

The 3 day shipping is ground unless you live in an odd area (rural route, etc). "Guaranteed 3 day" is a different option. UPS and FedEX ground shipping is a 5-7 day guaranteed shipping with a "typical delivery time of 2-3 days."

Got mine today, I am quite pleased with it! Seems very sturdy, no twisting when weight is applied, everything bolts in solid, and looks decent too. The Hard drive trays are a bit odd, as nothing is actually screwed in. They leave one hole on each side for the middle screw, if your paranoid, as I was. So once those are bolted in, its held quite secure and makes for easy changing of hard drives. The included fans are quiet, but don't move a whole ton of air.

Pictures :santa:

Some are a bit fuzzy because its night outside, and the lighting down here is of the utmost horrid.

Yes, I was suprised by the size as well, here are some quick and very dirty and bad lighting pictures next to my Thermaltake Armor, and a true antec mid-tower.

Yea this case is DANG tempting... It seems about as good as a case can get for air cooling. Not only does it have front and back vents but also top and bottom, AND the PSU is on the bottom!

I'm in for one. The free shipping + rebate + the fact that it's almost everything I"ve been looking for in a case sealed the deal. Should be interesting windowing this puppy.

If anyone has a PATA hdd don't buy this case unless you are ready to do some modding. You are going to have to end up modding case hdd metal case housing to get the power connected. Other then that great case.

Post pics?

I got a ATA hard drive in there with IDE cables connected. Just pulled out a junker PSU and plugged in the power and the side slides on just fine?

Maybe your case is a fluke?

Guess so or the hard drive power connector is too far out to the outside. Either way I had an old style mount and just mounted it right below my DVD-RW. I will take pics of the entire setup today once I finish modding the fans to either 5v or 7v.

Ordered this last week and was just going to post how impressed I was with the case as it just arrived. Just wondering if anyone is adding more fans and if so, how many and what kind. (Looking for quiet). Did anyone add the 80mm on the back of the mobo mount?

zexmarquies01
09-17-07, 04:47 PM
oooh, that case is VERY tempting or order!

Dunno if i really like the PSU on the bottom though...since the 20+4 power cable is on the top right hand side of my motherboard, and getting the 20+4 pin wire around, and past the video card, or up and around the CPU's heatsink would be a PITA!

though, i like the idea of a fan on the back, AND it has 2 holes on the back to allow an external radiator for water cooling!

search for reviews on the case they tryed the 80 in the back but no real temp advatages to it i guess i am gona be filling up mine i think with some yate loons if i do i will be replacing all of the fans and keep the stockers for back ups if any go out.i would asume you could mount a rad on top where the 2 120s go but i don't have my case yet so i could not tell u if i would decide to go the sc route i would buils a inclosure to go on top of the case it just seems easyer and would look better than clutering up every thing

I'm just guessing but 2 top, 2 side, 1 bottom, 1 back and 1 front. There are mounts for those plus an additional thin 80 on the mobo mount side.

Thanks, looks like I'll have to put an order in for the Loons. What ones did you go with and from who? I used to buy all my fans from Nexfan, but their recent reseller ratings doesn't paint a pretty picture. Actually, I'll probably ask about them in a new topic if I can't find my answer in a search.

I bought them from Nexfan. I ordered 6 and received 9 with the buy 2 get 1 free deal. The fans came in 3 days after payment was made and all 9 work perfectly.

I will post pictures once I get the northbridge modded with a large heatsink to remove this loud fan bs.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll give jab-tech a try. As much as I'd like to stay with nexfan, I'm a little concerned with their recent feedback. Plus jab-tech has a better price on the Thermalright Ultra 120 than the egg right now, so I'll probably order one of those while I'm at it. Just not ready to go liquid yet.

How is the airflow? It concerns me that there are virtually no intake fans on the front...the bottom 120 is virtually useless because of the hard drive cage it seems...
