Finally break into the top 10 today....its taken a while :)
had a bit of a funny month really, got a mammoth power bill and got a load of extra work to do the sum of which ment that:
my home c2d E6600 which was running smp got turned off
my home laptop got turned off full stop
my quad server got changed to 3 normal clients instead of smp
my main quad rig got changed to 4 normal clients instead of smp
i love smp on ubunto, but it has to much of a overhead on a virual environment.
but smp on windows is just way to flakey, and when we won some new work at my job, i no longer have the time to keep 24/7 eye on it all :bang head
all in all i am now happy with 19k a day, keeps me int he top 4.
ho..hum..roll on next month

and yeah, I sure know how you feel....
Last time I checked, being 10th is being in the top 10, unless you start with 0. You'll make it into the top 9 today. :D

Nice Folding mate! Good to see you around... I miss that British accent that appears in my head when I read your posts. :D
Nice to hear from you lee :)
I figured you were busy.
JoeCamel has been busy with his new baby and he has hardly been around the fora lately and i also noticed he has probably turned off many/all his home rigs likely for the same reasons as you ... power bill, heat... but it looks like his work borgs are all still going.
Congratz on getting into the top ranks :)

£500=$1014.40usd /4=$256.60 per month. Not too bad, at least from a folder's perspective. From a folder's wife's perspective...:-/:temper::mad::cry:

That's still not a bad bill compared to some of us!
How come it is you only have to pay every quarter? I have to pay every month!
Nice to see you again Lee:beer:

So very true. If I had to pay my power bill I don't know what the woman of the house would say. Probably something along the lines of "The computers and PS3 need to be turned off when they aren't being used". Of course in that particular situation, I would say something sarcastic, like "They are being used, and Stanford loves everyone of us for it".

w00t !! WTF Lee :D :soda: (WTH happend to ... sigh)
sorry, im WAAAAY late to this party...
actually i only had 1 (SMP) rig down this whole time. those things are KEY to BIG #'s
it just wet back up today (last night) after i figured out it was the PSU that went bad.
sadly, 300-400 electricity bills are my normal these days, even without that one rig.
happily, im thinking of (and pricing out) a new quad rig but that might not happen for another month or so

Nice to see you dropping in to say hi JC :)
The first one is such a life changing experience ... for the better :) :)
Nothing like coming home from a tough day to see a beaming smile and the crap of the day is all forgotten.
Just make sure you get some quad goodness before she needs a new wardrobe :D

I'm very close to that life changing experience myself. I just found out last week that it's a girl. Still trying to think of a name. It just seems kind of hard to come up with something that works with my last name. After she is born, I will be sure to post some pics.

in, say, 20 - 25 years, that last name will probably change!

Nice trend line Joe :)
Will it keep going? It should once all those work borgs find out they need to be quads :D

it should, for a few more days... added my 6800 (sig rig CPU) to the farm and moved one SMP rig to work (under my desk... 24/7 SMP NOT on my electric bill :D )
i also built the first C2D rig @ work, its "on the bench" waiting to be subbed in for a (soon to be) dead PC. its running SMP for now but i dont think it will once it gets incorporated into the work network (windows SMP as a "hidden" service work yet?)
ive got all the parts to put together another work C2D except the case...
a few shots of the 6800 farm rig:
the HSF (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage.aspx?CurImage=35-185-027-04.jpg&Image=35-185-027-02.jpg%2c35-185-027-03.jpg%2c35-185-027-04.jpg%2c35-185-027-05.jpg%2c35-185-027-06.jpg%2c35-185-027-07.jpg&S7ImageFlag=0&Depa=0&Description=Scythe+SCINF-1000+120mm+CPU+Cooler) could only be mounted "that" way and i needed the air flow to go the "other" way so i did a little "Joe Camel ghetto modd'n" ;)
3.6GHz @ 47C :D

Yep... not supported by Stanford of course, but it can be made to cooperate.
The only drawback being if the machine is shutdown/rebooted without first shutting down the service.
If the OS if brought back up and the service restarted... the client will lose its progress and start the WU calculation over from the beginning. :bang head

uggg
as this will be a PC @ work and not under my 24/7 control THAT could lead to a lot of lost time (points)
on the other hand, running 2x "normal" service clients is a lot of lost points vs SMP...
:-/

Not sure if it would help to run it as a desktop console, use trayit to keep it out of the windows taskbar, and autolaunch it under whoever the users id will be at windows logon.
Maybe windows shutdown would close it properly if run this way vs running as a service?

Windows does shut it down properly for me when run this way...
