I´ve seen that some manufactures has 8Mb cache on there HD´s, so called " Special Edition Drives ".

Is there a diffrence in performance with 8Mb Cache ??

The cost is a big diffrence for 8Mb...

/ Thx...

I would imagine probably so depending on the use of the drive. Onboard cache for a hard drive affects the performance of that drive in the same manner physical memory (RAM) affects a system's overall performance. There is, of course, that point when more makes no difference at all, however.

I couldn't justify the cost difference for the performance gain on an every day PC though. 2MB is just enough at this point in time...4MB probably would be a good standard with the direction technology is taking us these days and probably isn't far from being commonplace as it is.
