goto tools>options then click mail setup and add new e-mail accounts, then this little wizard will pop up and help you

It's http. Attached is my screen from OE. I don't know if it's the same as plain vanilla Outlook. The complete link is http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp

bot the windows 2k and xp have a little wizard that pretty much sets it up for you all you have to do is go to options and add new e-mail accounts and then select http and it will default at hotmail, then just enter your information

I had the same problem you had. Outlook Express *worked* but I was really mad that Office2000 didn't have the tab for Hotmail. I searched Hotmail's site and Microsofts but to no avail. I eventually just gave up and tried Office XP.

And YES, it does have built in support for Hotmail accounts. :)
