View Full Version : Still tired of lodging your Wiimote into things?
Tired of lodging your Wiimote into walls, televisions, and the skulls of your siblings? Well, Nintendo just rolled out the fourth iteration of the Wiimote lanyard.

I placed an order for four. We'll see if I get them.
These ones include a locking thingy to keep the strap tight around your wrist. Personally, I find it hard to believe that people are still losing their grip on these things and smashing valuable things.

I request 2 as well. It just looks like it'd be easier to keep on.

Granted I don't play the thing continuously, in fact my wife has logged more hours with it than me, but even when playing while we're both drunk and without the wriststrap on, we've never even come close to dropping/throwing it. What spazs these people must be....

I got these like 8 months ago. Don't really need anything stronger, I'm not an idiot who can't control their motion..ing.

We've had it for awhile too, and I don't see how you can throw it...not like its a bar of soap
Pretty soon they'll have 'Wiimote on a rope' or something. Just like in jail.

Don't drop the Wii-Mote......sounds like a movie in the making, just not one that could be shared on these forums ;)

I'm a little surprised it's not on Youtube already. I took the straps off my Wii-motes the first day (launch day) and have never had an issue, even with my 3 and 9 year old neices playing it :-/
There is something about this thread title that disturbs me. But to be serious for a moment we still have the original wrist straps and we've never had a problem.

I think that if the original Wii-motes were really that dangerous Nintendo would recall all of them, or at least issue new straps for every one sold so far. I think it's just Nintendo covering their own a** from stupid people doing stupid things and expecting money for it.

Well, in this litigious society today I'm truly surprised somebody out fishing on Lake Niapenco hasn't got drunk and stuck himself with a fishing hook and sued the whole fishing industry to make a "safer" fish hook.

That's not to say it doesn't happen. I mean WebMD even has an entire section about what to do if you get a fish hook caught in your eyelid!
Link for non-believers ;)

Enjoy reading that page and getting squeamish in your seat :D

Also, if you need a web-based form to tell you to see a doctor if you have a fish hook stuck in you, there's a gentleman named Darwin you really should be speaking with.

I actually just played with a Wii yesterday for the first time. Messed around with the sports games, just could NOT get the hang of the stupid boxing game. The character doesn’t really do/mimic the movements that you do, and it’s rather lethargic feeling.. but anyway, I simply entwined the lanyard around my fingers + wrist before gripping the stick and didn’t have a problem.

i got those new wii straps a long time ago, but only cuz one of my friends were playing something and the wiimote slipped out of his hand, though the strap didnt break there was not much left of it.

He must've been spazzing pretty hard then for it to have done that.....

The boxing sucks, so that's not really much of a surprise. :-/

Agreed. The boxing is easily the worst game on the sports disc, though had the potential to be the best (the bowling is the best IMO, especially if you have a friend or two to play against). Try out the new Metroid game; that's how the Wii-Mote/Nunchuck is supposed to work.

If they had done the boxing like the one at the arcade with the gloves you hold in your hands then it would of been great, but the gesture thing with the mote and chuck is inconsistent at best. It actually works BETTER if you do not move your arms but just tilt the mote away from you for a high punch, toward you for a low one, straight up to block, toward and left or right for a body blow and away and left or right for a hook. The uppercut is the hardest because you kind of have to give it a toward and then away and left or right scooping motion.

well my friends doesnt, im jsut glad it wasnt the tv that got hit, or any of my speakers.
I got the Nintendo Silicone Gloves for both the nunchuks/Wiimotes. Those help a whole bunch. I also just ordered 4 replacement straps from Nintendo.
I always feel weird telling my GF... "Put the strap on."
My cousin's friend actually threw HER Wiimote across my living room a few days ago. I had just told him, to fasten the strap too. What a moron...
